PostPosted: 16:58 - 24 May 2005    Post subject: REV BOOSTER Question ??? Reply with quote

Ive got a 1992 unrestricted zxr 400 SP and my mate has told me to get a rev booster, whats this i wonder! so now, after some ((i know what he means nodding)) ive scuttled off home to ask you lot! he he!

is it worth it or what? is it just for de-restricted bikes? if im honest i dont know anything about them obviously it must boost revs so dont state the obvious but can someone care to explain:

what it does to power? mid-range benefit or top end benefit only etc

where it fits?

and is it worth me getting one for my bike?

any long term damage caused by fitting one?

will my bike be quicker?

Cheers Cool

From what I can glean, you fit a 'rev booster' to a restricted 400 (normally 400) where the restriction is to 112mph by means of the ignition cutting when the speed reaches that.

It wont damage the bike (well unless you ramp the tits off it everywhere) the bike is capable of the higher speeds.
It is a simple piece of electronics, if you had some knowledge you can make one yourself, apparently.
You bike should do close to 130mph or something, I noticed it on my bike.

would that be the optical limiter in the clocks (light passes through a wheel), that you can just cover over with lots of black tape?

alot cheaper and does the same job

Mine does around 135mph as it is now so will it take it any higher?

No, on restricted bikes, it cuts two cylinders once you hit 112mph.

Ergo, you don't need one, it'd be redundant.

Thats an indicated 135, more like a real 120-125.

still your speedo will be off by 10% so id still say you couldnt have been doing much more than 125.

My 1100 will go off the clocks at 300km/h (185mph) and still pull (and im REALLY sh*tting myself at this point) but i know it cant be doing much over 165.......

lmao

the GSXR and VFRs speedos will be as innacurate as yours-or mine for that matter.

If you want you we can get toghether, ill run up to a true 130mph and see if your ZXR can keep up.

If you really want to find out the top speed, you'll want to get GPS, or even better, get to a straightliners event.

Veypour digi speedo units are quite accurate, much better than mech speedos.
