I've got a 99 Honda hornet with 16" wheel, what difference would putting a 17" wheel make to the handling? Being a new rider would it be better?
I heard it made the bike "less fun"?

if or when I decided to put a 17" wheel on in the future, would I need to change the fork oil or springs/spacers acordingly?

Thanks.

It would make the bike more stable but it would steer more slowly. Its a six of one half dozen of the other situation.

I had a 16" front wheel on my FZ 750 and found it made the handling quite fast, but after fitting the later 17, the steering felt too slow.

Youll need to check the brake discs line up, the spindles are the same size etc. You may need to manufacture some spacers to get it all to line up. If the spindles are not the same youll either need to make a sleeve or find bearings to make the new wheel fit.

You will need to find a 17 inch wheel, these genrally go for £150-£200 second hand. The disks are different but calipers and forks are the same. I'm not sure about the spindle and spacers. Suspention should be fine as it is.
Some people prefer the 17, others the 16, if your happy with your bike there isnt much point in changeing it.

My advice, unless the bike feels twitchy and unsteady, stick with the smaller wheel.
