Ok now go easy on this one if the verdict is that I'm just being a complete whinger, cause Ive only been ridin for just over a week.
I want to know if it's just me or are these sorts of things something I can look forward to over the course of my riding experience however long that may be.

1st Ive noticed that when ever I catch up with mates and have my lid on, for some unknown freakin reason they can't help but slap you on the back/top of the head while you're wearing it.
Ok right now I'm hoping its a passing fad and they'll get used to it or the novelty will wear off soon enough but the thing that is really shitting me is ....... why is it that when you show up on a new bike and it doesn't seem to matter if the guy has or doesn't have a bike licence that they all just jump right on the bike and feel the need to ask if they can take it for a run.
I swear next time one of em gets a new missus Im grabbin her by the hand heading for the bedroom and sayin "back in a minute just gonna see how she handles"
One of my mates even grabbed the bike by the pillion rail and proceeded to lean the bike from side to side.
After sharing a few choice 4 letter words with him, he then stated that he has ridden his fair share of bikes and knows what he is doing . Albeit not possessing a licence.
I explained to him in no uncertain terms that the weight of the bike was not meant to be supported in that fashion and if it decided to tip over there was no farkin way he wa goin to hold it upright.
I then explained the consequences and direct relation between the state of my farings and face.
Humph ...ok sook over but feel free to throw in your 2 cents worth

When i got my first bike my mates all wanted a go. They were all denied from the joy because they didn't have the gear, licences, insurance.

None of them liked it but they soon gave up.

My advice is tell them how much its worth ££££ wise and the risk to your licence if you let them have a go.

If they still dont understand then they are not good enough to call friends in my opinion Exclamation

Yeah some of my mates felt the urge to touch my bike all over when i got it... most tried to act like they were big and were saying things like "Oh let me have a go, oh come on, i can ride a bike".

I cured about 5 mates in one go though, one was going to me "Oh go on let me ride it, i can do it, i can wheely and everything"...i said "Go on then" and hopped back onto the pillion seat (to support it when he got on, 'cos he didnt have a clue) He sat on it, and very quickly embarised himself when he tried to start the bike by turning the key like a car... he soon got off and hasnt tried since.

Although there was some persistant ones... so when i took my full test i cured them of their "need" by taking them to 60 as a pillion, that scared the crap out of them, and since, have not tried to harass me again Wink

Don't want to give you guys the wrong idea. Their not all complete tossers. I just think they have no concept about how easy it is to lay a bike over is all. I know it's all in jest but for shits sake take it easy.

I am assuming from what you have said that you are quite young, and your bike is probably a 'ped or a 125? If they ask for a go, tell them to fuck right off and get their own ride.

My other half is the workshop manager in a bike shop that specialises in 'peds and scoots. He reckons that about 80% of the broken 'peds he sees (and believe me he sees plenty) have been knackered by the owners letting their mates "have a go". Said mate then drops it, hits the kerb or crashes into the nearest large stationary object (walls or vans usually).

No-one has the right to even touch your bike without your permission.

Re the lid thing, as I think I said in another thread sometime, if you nut someone whilst wearing your lid they soon learn respect..... Twisted Evil

Sounds like my girlfriends brother. He had a scooter at the time and was pestering me for a go on my GPZ500. Insisted he had ridden a geared bike before (his mates GS125) and could handle it.

I said he had best have a go on the pillion first, took him just out of town then cracked it open to the redline. He was screaming at me to slow down before I had hooked third and has never asked again since.

I then proceeded to compound his embarrasement by taking his mum out for a ton-up blast on the back of it, he didn't know his dad used to have a Triumph Boneville and she was an experienced pillion Thumbs Up

Ive noticed that whenever i pull up at a petrol garage or outside a shop, i always get some 13 year old burburry clad mong saying "Lets have a go of you bike", when i say no its always "Im a well good rider innit, ive got a 125"

Yeah im likely to say "sure my fellow man, hop on board take it for a spin, if you crash dont worry, whats a crash between me and a underage twat i dont even know"

So i normally tell them to go forth and multiply.

o.k i may be completely wrong that either your mates don't really respect you that much or are trying to show you how big there balls are! by fecking around with you and your bike they are trying to belittle you into thinking biking isn't that hard a thing, anyone that has been riding for a period of time on the roads will know different, i.e actually controlling the bike, nevermind cagers/post out to kill you. the best way is to tell them to feck off and get there own bike/licence. or put them in your spare kit and show off the accelleration, that will prob give them a yellow streak of piss

Easy solution.

Get them on the back, and pop a wheelie when they are not expecting it (like when they are showing off to their mates), causing them to land on there arse on the floor with a big thud.

Usually does the trick. Thumbs Up Or you could just tell em to fuck off and pay for there own bike they can crash...

Luckily being 6'4 and reasonably cubic (even if well filled) i get little hassle from unknowns.

One amusing convo down the pub with some twat who is now in prison for bottling someone (its a nice pub Rolling Eyes) when i was warming up the bike, went like this;

Him- Lets rev it
Me- Erm why
H- I want to feeeeeeeeeeeel it
M- Erm go for it, just dont nail it, its cold

*prompt nailing it*
*i take keys out*

H- What did you do that for
M- Why the fuck do you think
H- lets ride it round the carpark
M- ... Or not
H- come on... i wanna feeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeel it
M- NO
H- Your not a biker... your a prick
*slot on helmet and gloves - some how shifts the balance on how much you can growl Laughing*
M- And your a drunk fucking idiot, now piss off inside

Then i rode off. Some people just dont have a clue. I remember the whole arguments with my mates who had peds etc, i had a pretty mint Derbi GPR which i loved.
What i hate is the bike swapping routine when your bike is far superior/more expensive. Had some guy on a knackered fizzy who thought he was the mutt's. Actually one day just jumped on it when i was toddling my mates aRSe50 up the road, came back to see him coming up on mine. Also fell out with a mate who decided he was fantastic at riding so while i was having a quick piss took my bike down the road with his gf on the back with no helmets Rolling Eyes

Didnt understand why i might be upset

I too have known about 3 people who smashed up other peoples bikes, and i myself caned a 250 crosser through a wire fence and into a tree in my youth.
Best line i give if you want to give them the message politely is, 'go and get your licence and helmet, get abit of time on the road, and then your more then welcome to play. Until then you arent safe'
Also i dont like letting people on who ask, more when i offer. I taught someone to ride a geared bike completely from scratch with no road experience, it was my idea, he wasnt cocky. Just wanted to learn.

Yesterday infact i had a little incident occur with some guys bike hed just bought in the pub, he said it couldnt do a burnout. i said you blatantly can, so he starts it up. I do a burn out (Rolling Eyes) and stop. This old soak decides hes fucking fantastic, asks for a go in the carpark (id already declined a carpark toodle as i know whats likely to happen) and the guy does a shaky u-turn, trounces it up to the top of the car park, turns round tentatively, flogs it in first... straight over a speed bump strip, bike bucks like an absolute cunt, he missed a concrete fence post by inches literally by complete luck. Gets off and says... yeh the back brakes a bit spongy LaughingRolling EyesBrick Wall

Not to boast but as a side point, he offered me to go on road with it, i toodle it around get a feel for it, and with the words 'you [pisshead] got it to wheeley higher then i can [like an inch... and shite]' ringing in my ears came past the entrance to the pub at about 25mph perched at about 10 o'clock. Earned a pint from that lol

The last fucker that did that with my bike was somewhat surprised when I left the pub via a window & went at him with a pool cue. He didn't do it again..

Hmm not quite, I'm acutally 31 and it's a gpx 250.
I know it aint the flashest thing on the road but I still had to pay for it and well it's my first bike and Im guessin you all know how protective you can be of em.

Thanks for all of your advice on how to best kick the livin snot out of my mates, but by telling em to fuck off and stop bein a knob end usually does it.

More to the point theyre probably doin it just because they know it shits me.

Most people who bug me about my bike are 14 something protochavs, going on about how they "did 60 over the back field on a moped" they'd presumably stolen, and how they reckon "kevs XR3 could go faster" than my bike.

I just smile nod and ignore mostly.

Also i get alot of " My RS125 is faster than that", or " i put a big boor kit in me speedfight, is well fast now man".

The best was the drag race between me and a friends sisters boyfriend, in his pride and joy 306 attempting to drag race me on my FJ1200 from the lights. The look of dismay on his face and the laughter on the sisters face was priceless after the inevitable slaying.
