Good bikes. Never owned one, but a mate did and he loved it. Usual Yamaha gearbox gripes. Nice riding position too IMO...

I wouldnt pay more than £2300 for a nice '96 model.

I am interested in this one on ebay, but alas it's a little too far from me.

Mmm, not sure about the paintjob! Looks ok, though its impossible to tell the true condition from photos. I would say its a fair price. Peterborough aint that far away!

its meant to be a pretty good bike, take a bit more looking after than normal and have a rock hard seat.

personaly i tink it looks pig ugly and wouldnt buy one unless it were under £1500 because after that price you can get a lot newer bikes like an sv which produces the same power of a fazer.

About the same power as a Fazer, but well up on the SV (69 vs 82 according to Bike magazine), and also a fair amount more torque.

All the best

The TRX is also more 'sporty' than the fazer and a bit bigger feeling (as a lot of big twins often are).

Personally I like them, and was seriously thinking about one when I bought the Bandit. Probably a good job that I didn't given that it was about £1K more and would now be worth less (and the riding position would have crippled me riding through France).

These days they are a lot of bike for the money.

All the best

Keith

As Keith sade.

Quite like the looks in a retro kind of way.

Would make an interesting alternative cheap road bike. Definitely a good deal around about now because most have devalued all they are going to already.

like you i seriously considered considered getting one before getting an sv650 about 3 years ago. my main fault with the trx is its not cheap enaough at the time i bought my sv these same aged bikes were selling for about £1800, now they seem to go close to that again.

first consider the pool of potential buyers which is pretty limited then the compitition in the sv which is 5 years newer and a sodding great bike or a ducati super sport which is, well a ducati, im ignoring the fireblades and zx9rs at that price point but many buyers may not.

if you knew what you were doing you could get a trx for £3700 new and its not like it was a big hit so there aint as much cool stuff to tweak your bike out there.

in a couple of months whan silly season is over they might go down to where i think they should be in the £1300ish bracket where they are good value again and i may point may mate whos after a new bike at one.

meaning to ask if you spotted the sv650 in autotrader for £1250 ono, its got 30k odd miles and the owner himself describes it as cosmeticly rough with no photo so i assumed its in a hell of a knick to be £500 below bottom book but unless its been in a hard frontal its probably a ridable hack.

Pig ugly... compared to a version 1 SV? Horses for courses i guess. 82 bhp is a little on the enthusiatic side most standard bikes have 72-76 dynojet and xuasts (which make em sound great) might get you to 82 on a healthy bike....

All that said.... I'm a fan ( https://trxuk.trx850.com ) and would not swap mine for anything else. For the money if you take your time a find a good one you won't find a better bike out there.
