PostPosted: 09:48 - 26 May 2005    Post subject: Second KillSpills Rally Saturday 10th September 2005 Reply with quote

Message from Stephen Edwards - campaign leader, KillSpills:

Come and join the KillSpills Team in the largest Motorcycle Road Safety Rally in London

The second annual KillSpills Rally (Saturday 10th September 2005) runs from the Ace Café London to the Palace of Westminster via Number 10 Downing Street.

It will be a great fun filled day delivering a serious road safety message to the home of democracy.

Join in the Ace Café's famous annual Birthday bash and then ride through Central London with all road junctions kindly closed by the Metropolitan Police to allow YOU an un-interrupted ride to Westminster. The route we will take will pass a lot of the major sights, so there will be plenty of opportunity for you to wave at passers by and hopefully tell the public about the campaign when you are parked up at Millbank.

As the rally starts from the Ace Café, we ask all riders to be at the Ace for 11am. The KillSpills Team and KillSpills Marshals will be on hand to answer your questions on the campaign and the Metropolitan Police will be there to brief rally riders and to escort the rally to Westminster.

Those of you who joined us last year will (hopefully) have had a memorable day and we look forward to meeting you all again. For those of you who could not make the rally last year, come and join us this year, you don’t know what you are missing!

•-Help us to show the Government and general public that diesel spills present a real danger to ALL road users.

•-Help us to show the Government and general public that us bikers are a caring and responsible group of people, who take the issue of road safety seriously.

The route will take the rally from the Ace Café onto the North Circular road, heading towards Hangar Lane. We then take the A40 to Paddington, Park Lane, Marble Arch, Constitution Hill, Queen Victoria Memorial, The Mall, Trafalgar Square, Whitehall and the bikes will park up along Millbank. On the return journey, the rally will leave Whitehall, go along Birdcage Walk, ride in front of Buckingham Palace and down Constitution Hill, then following the same route back to the Ace Café.

Each rider will receive a goodie bag . This year we have organised a team to hand out A5 flyers to the public around Buckingham Palace, the Mall, Trafalgar Square and Whitehall, explaining what the rally is about.

We had the BBC filming us last year and we will be aiming to get more TV and press coverage this year.

KillSpills T-shirts are available to purchase before the rally…

The KillSpills team really appreciate your support, we can and will make a difference, and your attendance here today re-enforces our safety message.
• Are you fed up with diesel spills on our roads?
• Do you think something should be done about it?
• Do you want to improve road safety?
• Do you want to take part in the largest ever motorcycle rally in London?
If you have answered yes to any of the above questions, then join us and many others at the 2nd annual KillSpills Rally.

Steve

Please dont reply to this post just log on to www.killspills.org.uk, e mail the team to say you are coming and sign the petition---- yes again!

thanks for your support

I would be interested if there were simultaneous/parallel rallies/rides in different parts of the UK. Bit of a haul down to London for a day out.

Still from a political point of view, if it doesn't happen in London then it doesn't matter.

I will express my support by getting a T-shirt.

Well map, Steve who I quoted above is coming down from Manchester. How's that for you? He's always happy to pick up a few strays! Wink

What time are you setting off mate? I'm part of the team though, so I have to turn up about 9.30 Sad

I'm official photographer though, so if I'm there early, I get lots of photos of people turning up! Wink

If you can get on the M25 we can meet you at an easy-to-find place just off the M25. "Fleet Services" is pretty close to the M25 anyway.

If I'm at Uni on the 10th I'll ride the whole way from Bournemouth with you. Thumbs Up We'll sort something out, don't worry.

As I realise I posted this a tad before time, would a kind admin/mod mind making this a sticky for me please? It would be great to improve on the rally attendance figure last year of about 1000 bikes!

Thanks very much!

Fuck yeh i'm IN Razz Thumbs Up - Wildcat , i live on camrose avenue - Rex Judd's - but i'll probably go up to Potters Bar to meet up with Smoto, Claud, 89CBRChris and what not who want to ride down with us. Alternatively, i guess people from the north can all pile down to esso at elstree because you can take the A41 down to the 406 intersection that'll lead you onto the ace.

PM me nearer to the time for a meet (Herts usuals + as many of you that are coming from a north or west direction). Jon - i guess if you're willing to go up the M25 for a bit, you'll be bound to find the M1 exit at edgware - basically it's near there. From there to the ace - only 20 mins.

It was a tremendous day the other time and i had a good day. Will be bound to meet more faces.
