I've been waiting a long time to get on the road (legally) with my bike, and finally my provisional arrives, after a very long time. There problem is that due to exams my bike has been sitting for about a week idle. When i first went to start it it just wouldn't start at all, a continuos clicking sound was all that happened. so, my forst thought was that the battery was flat, i charged the battery full and tried it again a few times and the clicking sound was still the only thing to happen.

Does anyone have any idea what the problem could be, i really will appreciate any help you can give

Sounds like it might be the starter motor.

Hi

The clicking sound is probably from the starter relay. A small box with a couple of large wires going to it (and 1 or 2 small wires). First thing to try (if the battery is fully charged) is to tap it a few times with the handle of a screw driver just incase it is sticking.

After that is it time to dig out a multimeter and see where the current stops.

All the best

Keith

hey, i really haven't got a clue and neither does my dad who knows a fair bit about the subject. i tried tapping the battery and absolutely nothing is happening, not even a clicking sound. i hope it's not to serious, i'll call the my local bike dealer and ask tomorrow, i hope it isn't too costly.

Hi

The relay is the bit you need to tap. It will be a small box. One large lead will go to the battery, the other to the starter motor.

However if it is now not even clicking it suggests the battery is fubar.

All the best

Keith
