Weird title i know, was thinking the other day whilst looking around at the works bike parking spaces (work at a bike shop)

You know when you see an old bike, be it 5yrs+ for example and even though it dont have the latests trick parts you still go "yup thats a lovely bike". Or them bikes which you know just created the styles/tech of today.

400cc's are good for this, there old yet still look "just right". Some of the old Suzuki's and hondas. Esp, when they have been looked after.

Thoughts Question

For a variety of reasons and by no means exhaustive these stand out for a 'fantasy garage' to me. and no, I haven't mentioned the CBR1100 or the Hayabusa, I don't reckon folks will reckon much of them in 20 years time.

In my opinion sports bikes date quickly, cruisers are ultimately timeless.

Theres something not quite right with that RC30. Somethings telling me its a Bros with a fairing, but I could be wrong.

But yeah, the RC30/NC30 is still a fantastic looking bike. Everytime I get mine out, I admire its lines and the fact that it doesn't look out of place at a bike meet despite being a 17 year old design now!!! Also have to remember the 916 was released in 1994, so thats 11 years old now and still looks like sex on two wheels (to me anyway).

Think the NC30 was Honda's most aerodynamic bike for a very long time, until the SP1 came out.

My supercity had not changed in design at all during its ~10 year run from early 90's to late 90's.

Either they got it right first time, or it took them that long to shift the ones they made in the first year!

What you forgot though was that the Blackbird knocked the king of speed off its perch, the king of speed that started the fully faired speed assault. The 'XX' has kept its gentlemanly decorum whilst still being able to hustle with smaller lighter machines..
The Hayabusa IS and will remain so for a long while 'THE FASTEST PRODUCTION MOTORCYCLE' and that in itself will keep its legend status as it was THAT bike which caused the agreed 186mph limit..
You have an MZ 250 in your list Rolling Eyes is that because it was the worlds first bike to use more oil than fuel per mile or is it because YOU owned one?????

Pesonally though i think you made an excellent choice in the ZZR1100, that bike was and still is an awesome machine. Neutral

WN, all production bike manufacturers have now signed a gentlmans agreement to limit ALL bikes to 186mph (these can be bypassed using a simple bit of electrical wizzardry for about £50)
The original Hayabusa's were THE 200mph out of the box bikes.

No, I chose it because it was an EXTREMELY sucessful race bike and without them, there would be no Japanese motorcycle industry. They practically INVENTED 2-strokes.

Hailwood Won a grand prix on an MZ and they dominated ISDT racing for about 10 years.

Ernst Degner Killed MZ though, but defected to a decent brand aka Suzuki. Smile

Who would have though it, one man kickstarting the Japanese bike industry.

My '92 NSR still looks lovely. I like the look of the older NSRs to the newer one.

MZs are the most oil frugal strokers in the world-just proves the old axiom that people who diss MZs no nothing about them and have never ridden them, as well as the fact MZ used to dominate GPs

Hopefully MZ will get into motoGP! back on the top again some day!
