Forever.
Do a Class A licence, and if you're under 21 you're restricted for 2 years. ____________________ <Simple> no I'm shaven Jon

Yes, you're correct.
However, if you get the full "class A" licence, after 2 years you will no longer be restricted. Which I assume is what you want? ____________________ <Simple> no I'm shaven Jon

A1 = Restricted forever
A2 = What the hell is that! |

Depends on how good you are already.
I had been riding my 125 for about six months before I apllied for the DAS. You will need a night to do the theory test (or an afternoon if you dont work during the day) it really takes no time at all and is a piece of piss if you have any road sense!
I had two days training and the thrid day was an hour beforehand and the test itself. So theoretically you could do it all in one week, as long as you are good enough to pass.
The theory is about thrirty quid, and I paid about £100 a day including tuition and bike hire/insurance. All together it worked out at about £350 for the licence!
Good luck

Depends.
This is what I did....
Saturday: CBT
Wednesday: 1/2 day training
Thursday: 1/2 day training
Friday: 1/2 day training, then test. Passed with 4 minors. Class A licence obtained.
Saturday: Buy ZXR400
Cost me about £400 total, including CBT, test, etc.
However, not everybody is that quick.
My housemate took abuot 3 months doing it, and spent about £650 in total. But he had more lessons than me. ____________________ <Simple> no I'm shaven Jon

You'll probably find that when it arrives you have a Category A licence, with an ammendment in the codes section restricting you to =<25KW.
I believe they just use "A2" to distinguish between a Full Cat A licence, and one that is to be restricted for 2 years (no DAS). However, as far as actually licences go, A2 doesn't exist.
We'll wait to see what comes in the post then! ____________________ <Simple> no I'm shaven Jon

A - Direct Access
Full UK bike licence
The most popular option for those aged twenty-one and over. It allows you to ride any size bike straight away. Taken on a manual motorcycle, it allows you to ride either manual bikes or automatics. Please note that you can only ride a large bike on the road before you pass your test when you are accompanied by an authorised Direct Access Instructor.
Restrictions on what you can ride: None
Minimum age: 21
Minimum test vehicle: Any motorcycle with a power output of more than 46.6 bhp. We use 500cc bikes, which are more than ample.
Allows you to: Carry passengers, discard your L-plates and to ride on motorways.
A2 - Restricted UK bike licence
Designed for those not wanting to ride anything too powerful for two years and the only licence option available to those aged 17-20. This licence can be gained using either a manual or automatic motorcycle. If you take your test on an automatic, you may only ride an automatic, which means that will only be able ride a manual bike as a learner. If you take your test on a manual bike, you can ride either manual or automatic.
Restrictions on what you can ride: Maximum of 33 bhp/25 kW with a power/weight ratio not exceeding 0.16kW/kg (roughly the power output of a standard 250cc motorcycle) and then after two years the licence automatically matures into a full licence. If the bike you want does exceed 33 bhp/25 kW, you will need to get the engine restricted down to 33 bhp/25 kW. If you reach the age of 21 before your licence matures, you can lift the restriction by taking your test again on a larger machine (Accelerated Access)
Minimum age: 17
Minimum test vehicle: Any motorcycle over 120cc and less than 125cc and capable of at least 62.5 mph (100 km/h)There must be certification to back this up. If you book to use one of our 125cc bikes, they all meet the minimum vehicle requirements to gain this A2 licence.
Allows you to: Carry passengers, discard your L-plates and to ride on motorways.
A1 - Restricted UK bike licence
Designed for those definitely not wanting to ride anything more powerful than a 125cc motorcycle. This licence can be gained using an automatic or manual motorcycle. If you take your test on an automatic, you may only ride an automatic, which means that will only be able ride a manual bike as a learner. If you take your test on a manual bike, you can ride either manual or automatic.
Restrictions on what you can ride: Maximum of 125cc with a power output of no greater than 11kW/14.6bhp. If you want to get rid of the restriction you will have to take another test on a more powerful motorcycle.
Minimum age: 17
Minimum test vehicle: Any motorcycle over 75cc and less than 125cc and capable of less than 62.5 mph (100 km/h)
Allows you to: Carry passengers, discard your L-plates and to ride on motorways. ____________________ When riding fast, think fast. When riding slow.. speed up.

Did you just make all of that up?
Read the DVLA website --> https://www.dvla.gov.uk/drivers/rdmcycle.htm
As far as I can see, A2 licences are NEVER mentioned. ____________________ <Simple> no I'm shaven Jon
