Does anyone know if you can insure a bike over 125 when you dont have your full licence yet?

Would it make a difference if your Driving licence is the old style?

There is a good reason for me asking this lol

You could if you lied to the insurance company and told them that you had a full license. Thing is, you wouldn't actually be insured anyway, so theres no point.

A friend of mine had her GPZ500 insured before she passed her test, in order that she could do her lessons on it while accompanied by an instructor.

You should also be able to insure is from a theft point of view, I would have thought.

Thumbs Up

Bennett's insured my GPZ550 for me whilst I held a provisional bike licence, although it was about £300 more than with a full licence.

The documents came for my insurance on the Planet this morning, cost £302 tpft via MotorCycleDirect. Was having a quick read and I noticed this:

Quote:
The policyholder is also entitled to drive, subject to the owner's permission, any motor cycle not belonging to and not held under a hire purchase agreement by the Policyholder.

Provided that the person driving holds a licence to drive the vehicle or has held and is not disqualified from holding or obtaining such a licence and observes the regulatory requirements of such license.

What am I entitled to ride?

It means you can ride any motorbike as long as it belongs to someone else, you have there permission, and it isnt a hire bike. However you will need the correct licence to do so.

You can ride another bike that your licence entitles you to ride, as long as it does not belong to you and you have the owners permission. You will only be insured third party though.
