Screwing the oil filter cover back on after replacing the oil filter (on my GS500), a big 'clunk' later and one of the screws that the cover fits over has snapped in half Embarassed I didn't think I was tightening too much either. Anyone know if these screws are replaceable or does the whole oil filter chamber need replacing? I'm not certain but it does look like the whole chamber can be removed as there are two bolts going up into the engine.

As I think you have already discovered, the studs can be removed and replaced individually.
