on bike trader there's a 1990 gs 500 for £795 with only 13k on the clock and they are genuine miles apparently.

Quite possibly genuine, they may have found it hard to get decent money for a fifteen year old bike, so definitely worth a look.

Doesn't mean much; they just need to have taken the speedo off or wound it back between MOTs.

However, having been looking for similar bikes I have seen a few around. In the end, it's the condition that matters, by 13k over 15 years it could be completly knackered; crashed loads of times, left outside for 15 years, or in very good nick, always garaged and miles only put on in nice summer days.
It could easily have been used daily for a short commute for quite a while, which probably won't have done the engine much good.

Yeah its worth a look. i mean mine is a '94 model and has 34k roughly on the clock, it just depends on the person who has owned it before you... For all you know you could be turning up to see an old lady who only ever rides it for a bit of fun at the weekend because she cant get onto a sports bike... or it could be used as a winter hack for someone who owns an R1 and doesnt want to get it dirty... or you may find it has been left for about 5 years and barely used, and someone has got it and sorted it out and riden it for the last year or so... or of course you could turn up, see its a heap of junk, and has obviously been clocked. Youll only find out one way!

(I would be happy if my '94 model would fetch £700+ )
