SMOKED BY AN RS125 TOP END!!

couldnt believe it! we were just comin up 2 the chesterfield bypass last nite (me on a 33bhp shed er-5 (which im gettin sick of!) and mate on his pogialli rs125). So we come off the last round about, onto it and both our wrists go round full Twisted Evil

i starts pullin away up to about 90mph and he's only a tiny dot in my mirror. Then what feels like 5 years later my speedos reading a massive 105mph Rolling Eyes

when all of a sudden i hear the screaming white wasp at the side of me Shocked

and he carried on past me with ease till im a dot in his mirror Crying or Very sad

at this point my chin was on the tank and my elbows were tucked in and there was nothing i could do at all!!! Sad

couldnt believe it! gutted! surely this werent rite! any1 selling a cool 400 sportsbike? Thumbs Up

haha it dint sound far off! and i spose i did have a gear left even tho it probably wudnt do owt... oh well just another year then the z1000 is comin!! Thumbs Up

Hi, it's not the bike but your restrictors that are the problem. The RS125 puts out close to 30hp and weighs a fair bit less than most bigger bikes(as you'd expect). A restricted sports 400 would not really fair any better.

I suspect a decent 125 could quite possibly out accelerate my bros400 or at least keep up. It only puts out 30bhp and is a fair bit bigger and heavier than most 125s. I couldn't care less tbh - I doubt my engine is going to sieze or disintegrate any time soon*, and 100mph is plenty fast enough for single carriageway roads.

The ER5 has the aerodynamics of a slender brick. The RS125 has the aerodynamics of something more akin to a well worn pebble. The same (well, sort of) power will never get you as fast.

Depending how illegal you're feeling, you could always take the restrictors out and get 50 something horsepower, and then smoke him. Of course you then claim you were just holding back the previous time. Razz

There is a very quick fix to the embarrasment of being taken by a 125 remove the restrictors !!! There only washers on the inlets, remove the tank, airbox, carbs and just pull them out Thumbs Up

Did it have a big bore?
A mate used to have a full power "tweeked" Mito, and when I was 33bhp used to keep up quite well.
