Looking at a cheap Bandit. It'll be my first bike after test tomorrow. My reckoning is if I pass, great. If I fail (Likely cos of the U turn) I can practice on it to my hearts content, then retest.

What law???? No, I won't be riding it regularly, just manuevers in my road.

Anyway, to the point............

This bike has had a few scrapes, hence the cheapness. More importantly, it's had new forks. Are the frames strong? Is it more than likely to have a bent frame cos of the accident that bent the forks?

The bloke won't let me ride it. I agree with him on that really. I've no one to look at it for me, so what should I look for without riding it? Or should I just stay away? I've not got a lot of money so this bike might just be ideal if its okay.

have a GOOD look at the frame etc see if u can see any kinks or stress marks, test the travel on suspension and if can push it and listen/look for any abnormalities in the movement of the bike i.e. anything rubbing, are handle bars straight, check from of engine also and radiator for any damage.

also ask him before hand if he would mind someone i.e. ur dad or uncle ride it who has passed their test and is fully comp. If he says no then suspect he has something to hide. If he says yes that'll be fine then there more likely chance he's not hiding something.

just an idea Smile

if he won't let you ride it get him to take you out on the back , get up to a tidy speed and ask him to let go of the handle bars , it should go in a straight line on its own , if it doesnt start looking very carefully at the headstock area and the swinging arm mounts for stress ripples etc

when i sell bikes i don't let anyone test ride them either unless i'm holding on to their cash first .

Thanks all.

Saw it, but didn't buy it. Bloke was okay, but too much not right about whole setup.

Check my website. look at my profile though as putting it here would be spamming methinks (I worked hard to create it so at least look at it!) Nothing to do with bikes I might add! Might appeal to the more feminine personality.
