Hello All,
Just a quick question, i picked up my new gsxr 600 last week from a bike shop here in Germany. Since then i have put 150 Kilometres on it and the Low fuel warning light has just come on. What sort of mileage should i be expecting? or is this normal for a new bike? Please let me know before i make an arse of myself Embarassed and take it to the dealer. Thanks in advance.

Edit: oh and i filled it up directly after i collected it.

hmmm I filled my 2004 ZX-6R 636 up as soon as I bought it and couldn't go over 6000RPM till it was run in but my milage was 200km to the first tank then I got 230 after it had it's first service now it after 12,000km I get 250km to the tank I fill it up as soon as I see the fuel level low light come on

Thanks for the quick reply. Thought it may be something to do with the running in of the engine. Probably not riding it quite correctly at the moment any way, sure its something to do with that. The only reason i asked is i had a 600 Bandit in England and im sure it got more than that to the tank. Any other comments appreciated.

The most I've had out of my K3 before seeing the warning light is about 210km ... that was on a steady motorway run and I had well over a thousand miles on the bike by then.

I seem to remember reading that the K4-K5 bike is geared slightly lower than mine, so you'll be doing higher revs for a given speed - that won't help fuel economy in comparison to the K1-K3 models, so your figure sounds like it's in the "normal" region to me.

See what it's like after the first service, and depending on how hard you ride it after that.
