The Isle of Man has its own government with the Queen as Head of State if my memory serves me correctly. If it was on the British mainland, you can bet your bottom dollar that Tony Blair and his nanny state mechanism would have banned it already, just as they are banning everything else.

My dad was killed while riding a bicycle when I was 11 (I chose to live with him when my parents seperated.)

This was a pivotal moment in my life and I have suffered from depression to some degree ever since. I could quite reasonably connect the majority of that to this event.
However, despite this, I would not have wanted him to have sacrificed the live he lived anymore for me.

Unfortunately, or maybe luckily, we are very cosseted from death in this country. It is a fact of life and can happen due to many causes; at least we have the option to live our lives in relative safety.

I hope I die doing something I enjoy And I hope I am able to spend my life itself doing things I enjoy.


My mum died when I was 13, probably mostly due to stress. I think most of this was due to her passion for her horse despite the problems this created for the rest of her life(including her finances). This has effected me considerably during the 6 years since that event, however i'm glad that my mum was able to find something worthwhile and fulfilling to spend her life doing before she died. I only hope that I still have a major interest that I can devote my life to when I am that age(old enough to have children)

Marshalls are unfortunately, not respected enough anywhere, they put their life on the line as much as any of the racers and without them, these events could never take place so a second R.I.P for that woman.

For the people who think it was selfish etc, what about the people that die horse racing every year, should that be banned? Since when did having a child mean that people could stop persueing their dreams? I hope that this gentleman's child remembering her Dad for the love of biking and that he died doing something he loved and she will grow up in the knowledge of this.

Who says that his little girl won't grow up to be a great TT racer in memory of her dad?

She might go on to do great things in the knowledge that she had a loving father that died doing some thing he greatly enjoyed, the only way she is going to regret what happened is if those narrow minded people out there keep telling her that her dad was selfish for doing what he did.

I personally have great respect and admiration for someone that follows their dreams and ambitions!
