Rev Counter Drops Off Randomly

My YZF Thundercat Rev counter drops to zero and then returns to normal revs, The bike seems to be running smooth and clean, but the rev counter just goes dead then comes back to life at random times

Anyone offer help / advise etc

sounds like the rev counter cable is on its way out this used to happen on my rs125 i think there between 10 and 15 quid for a new 1 or have a look on ebay

yep defenately the cable, if its electronicaly controlled then you have a mashed cable somewhere..

speedo cables you might be able to get off e-bay, or get one from you dealer (expect it to be pricey)

you chould be able to make acable easily enough as its sprobably just two wires.

cleaned out the air filter and the cough seems to have gone, also the rev counter isnt dropping off .....just a coincidence??

Any ideas?
