I purchased this bike needing an engine rebuild a week or so ago. Ill keep you all updated with a few pictures Thumbs Up

When I bought the bike:

Aaaand what the bike looks like now:
https://img.photobucket.com/albums/v405/jacktopi/AF1stripped.jpg

The bigend bearing was gone, as were the crank bearings, piston and the bore was very badly damaged. The solution... 70cc kit.

The engine stuff, sprockets and chain, and footpegs should be here midweek, and hopefully I can get it all back together by the weekend.

Keith's (KickStart) a bit of an expert on these. (is there a bike related subject he's not?)

Looks like you got a good deal on that, in a good condition those bikes go for LOADS.

It's actually now a 70cc.

They sold them new in the UK with a 70 kit on it (might have been 75cc, described as an 80).

That one has a later AF1 Futura seat unit in it (which is why it does not fit properly).

All the best

Keith

Yeah it was on ebay. I tell myself not to buy expensive stuff on ebay.. oh well.

Kickstart, the seat unit is a replica of the Futura I think. Its not quite the same (no pillion seat etc).

Hi

May well be an original one (any replica will be glass fibre, so if it is injection moulded plastic it will be original). Aprilia seemed to only sometimes fit any provision for a pillion.

All the best

Keith

Ah fair enough.

Is it normal for the clocks to be in km/h only?

It's not so bad with bikes. Grey market imported bikes are reasonably common. It didn't cost me really any more to insure an imported Chinese bike compared to the equivalent Honda model. That might be because the Chinese bike is a bit rubbish, but the principal is the same.

Was there such thing as a UK version of my bike then? Or are they all imported?

Ok hit a glitch.

The engine is not an RV4 item. This was obvious when I went to fit the new crank and barrel. It was also obvious when I looked at the 'Minarelli RV6 AP' writing.

What's going on?? What is the RV6 AP and why is it in my bike?

Its stolen.............been written off........been in an accident........somethings gone on somehwere.......but then again it was bought of Ebay..arghhhhh explains everything

Maybe the orignal engine went bang and they got that engine youve got on the cheap so they put it in

What does it say on the log book???

Log book, hehehe you'l be lucky.

The only documents I have are the V5 and some past MOT sheets.

The orignal crank has been rebuilt now instead of the new crank idea, and theres a guy on the case as far as the bore kit goes. I might have to hone out the bore and get it recoated instead.
