My friend craig come off his 1990 (i think) and cracked a chunk off his engine casing off. it was a very clean brake.

We would like to know if there is any chance Chemical Metal would hold it? Its broke on the side of the engine which does not hold any oil.

The bit fits back into the broken bit very well and feels like it may hold.

We are would not have any clue on how to change the complete casing of the engine.

Im really hoping that this would be able to fix the problem? if so for how long?

Not sure which bit you are talking about.

All I can make out in your picture is a big grey blur in the foreground with a pair of scissors and what looks like some bondage gear hung on the wall in the background.

Try taking a piccy from further back so it is in focus, or take one of the bike with an arrow pointing to the bit that has broken (you can use MS paint to draw an arrow onto a .jpeg).

Take a picture of the engine, is the chunk out of the centre crank case or alternator crank case?

its to dark now to take a photo of the engine. But the chunk is out of the alternator side of the engine.

That being the case, chemical metal is worth giving a whorl. If it doesn't hold, you could even try pop-rivetting a bit of aluminium plate across the defect then chemical metalling the other side. Not very pretty, but functional.

to be honest it doesnt really matter what part it came off because chemical metal is really good for this kinda stuff as its very resistant so it wont let any oil, water and petrol in or out i even used it on parts of a mini block when a job went slightly wrong for my enginnering course at uni. any way when using it make sure you really clean the area first and that means all the bits of oil no matter how small and then dry it to the bone cause it needs this work properly. also use disposable gloves. if your worried about virbrations working it free then dont, once its on it pretty much on for life. hope that helps
