Can you get insurance with no licence?

is it possible?
I can remember when I used to insure my car aaaages ago in the folks name instead of paying 800 in my name it was like 250 in their's. I was thinking of doing this with my bike, have it in their name then have it as any named driver (that's how the car was done). They don't have a bike licence though, just 250 million years ncb from the car .

From my Dad's system, it's not possible to get a quote for insurance without a licence, however, that doesn't mean it's impossible.

In theory, if you had bought a bike, and had to keep it on public roads, then it needs insurance to be on the roads, but you wouldn't need to have to be able to ride it. If you see what I mean. (Sorry it's early.)

If you did they would have to have a bike licence, otherwise you might as well have it in your name

Dunno if you could have it insure against fire and theft, explain its off the road mabe and see if they can do anything for you..

Certainly needed a licence to get mine + mot.

Even if it's possible, it's illegal.

Cause a big enough claim against you and they'll be round asking the neighbours who got on the bike every morning.

i think u can on a provisional, but it only covers you if someone with a license for 3 years and is over 21 is in the passenger seat.
on a bike, it has to be a 50cc or 125cc and no passenger is needed

I was thinking just to take my test on my own bike really, once I have my DA insurance will only be about 150 quid if that in my own name.

While technically possible, as they would not be licensed to ride it then it would be very obvious that they were not the main users, giving the insurance company an obvious way to claim that you were dishonest.

My insurance company refused to insure my GN125 until the date of my 17th birthday.

I asked specifically if they could in order to protect against theft.
