As my bike is being broken, i am looking at another ZXR400. The old one was restricted, and I wanted to move the restrictors across, or at least the papers.
Rang up the company, they just said that now they are useless, I have to buy new ones. New ones at £200. By the way there is nothing wrong with the old restrictors, they still work.

Can anyone help with good and serious ideas, except spending another £200, as this was a rip off in the first place and i am not bending over again.

Thanks, Kurt

How is it restricted? If the old restrictors are broken, why'd you need to spend £200?

I'm a little confused. Embarassed

Which company is it? if its F1 International they should let you change the restrictors to a different bike.

Put the restrictors back in yourself and then put it on a dyno, that will prove that the bike is restricted. Thumbs Up

It is F.I, they said I have to buy another set. My old ones are fine, its just my certificate would be incorrect as the new ZXR will have different VIN and REG

you have to pay a £25 admin fee for them to change the paperwork over but other than that there shouldnt be a problem.

FI International kits can't be removed and refitted.

The frequently asked questions sheet that I got with a FI 33bhp kit last year says:

Q. I have removed the kit and want to fit it to another bike or sell it on, is it possible to do that?
A. The kit cannot be refitted tp any other bike due to the weakening of the blades when removed, removing them can cause fractuse/stress lines in the blades and once refitted then can snap and go into the engine. It is company policy that once a kit has been removed it has to be discarded.

Im not arguing with you cos it aint you're fault, but thats bollocks. They are as thick as a 10 pence coin. Can 10p coins go into only 1 vending machine ever? No thought not.

If they may be damaged i would happily have them replaced or refunded, as they are obviously shabby quality

<edit - bollocks answer from company, aint saying nothing about the factual side of ur post if you see what I mean Wink . Thanks for that info>

There is no legal requirement for a FI International certificate despite what they might want you to think. Fit the restrictors and then get the bike dyno'ed. Thumbs Up

Just find another way of restriction.

I got my restrictors through the post today. Costing me the price of a 1st class stamp. Getting them fitted on saturday and getting the bike onto the dyno sometime next week.

As someone suggested in another post, just fit a bit of tubing to limit the throttle cable movement so that the bike won't rev enough to produce 33bhp. Then get a dyno-printout. Perfectly legal, apparently.

Now that I've passed my A2 test, I'm trying to work out the cheapest way of restricting my CG125 to under 33bhp, has anyone got any suggestions? Wink

That's so easy to do, just remove the sump plug, or you could try other favourites such as using diesel, that'll make the CG under 33hp Laughing

Lol, I think the only way you can get more than the standard 12bhp from a CG is by taking the engine out, and putting in a bigger one, and then taking the frame off, and putting a better frame on it, and then replacing the spindly wheels with one that can handle the new power.

And whoopee! Non-learner legal CG125 (just with none of the actual CG125 parts left) Smile

Yes, someone also suggested using petrol would have pretty much the same effect Laughing
