Is my fork oil leaking?

I took my first pillion passnger out today on my bike (all went well )
Except when I got back I noticed that i had a smal amount of clear grease on part of my forks. However on my ride back home (solo) There was no oil on the lower part of the forks. Is this only happening because of the extra weight or should I just get some new fork seals, I knew they kind of needed doing as the dust covers are knackered and taped with electrical tape

If your seals are shot you will see the evidence quite clearly. If it was only a smear I wouldn't worry too much about it but keep an eye on it just incase.

You need to lift the dust covers off and clean up any oil that is there, go for a ride and if theres more oil there then you know its leaking...

The extra weight might have finished them off for good.. you wont get grease comeing out though you might have picked it up from elsewhere on the bike (like steering bearings e.t.c.)

Not to worry too much, seals are easy to fit on a 125, and if you get a mechanic to do them its not going to cost huge money..

dunno why i though it was a 125

If you have sometyhing to rest the front of your bike on, circlip pliers, sockets and torque wrence, a vice and a manual then you can do it yourself easy enough (if i can do it easy enough then anyone can!)

Consider fitting gaiters while your there if you can stand how cool they look.. you'll be glad you did
