I've been looking at finally getting round to doing my restricted licence.

Anyway, to anyone who's done one, how hard are they? I've got about 2 years on-road experience now so I feel pretty happy when I'm out and about, but I've got no idea what sort of thing they look for when you do your test and what not.

Cheers

I got my test on the 24th.

I have been told they look for speed awareness, ie, looking out for speed signs, and changing speed correctly (looking in mirrors before speeding up or slowing down).

Thats a major thing these days apparently

try to relax, practice turning in the road, and above all do your lifesavers and youll do just fine!

Dont drive too defensively and kepp to the speed limits posted and not over or below.

I did my 125cc test last week and passed. It was pretty easy, I made loads of mistakes.

I reckon it's probably worth having a couple of hours lessons just to sort out any quirks you have, I actually did 2 full days, but I didn't really learn much and I reckon I would have passed without them.

You need to do proper shoulder checks, lifesavers, and do a u-turn and emergency stop properly, lift the bike onto the centre stand and answer a couple of trivial questions about maintenance, safety and carrying a pillion. Other than that, it's really just about whether you drive safely, and don't do anything like not stop at a stop sign, same as the driving test if you've done one.
