NSR 125, rear shock problem

I have not used my Honda NSR for around a month and coming to ride it I have found the rear sag has increased. Is there any reason for this, or a cheap way of fixing it. The bike is 5 years old, had it myself for a year and a half, passed it's MOT no problem and had nothing else wrong with it. (I have a very heavy uncle, who is an old biker, he may have sat on it , could this have made a difference?)

pass your finger on the piston (chromed center) , if you find it oily , your shock is at the end of the road (approx £100) as my friend gave you the adress

Hi

Check for oil leaks, but failed damping should not really affect the static sag (just how quickly it compresses when you apply some weight to it).

Springs do eventually sag, but it takes ages. I would very much doubt that having someone heavy sit on it would do any damage (plenty of people have carried pillions on them, and 2 10 stone people is a fair bit of weight).

Thanks for the info, was joking about the uncle, but I still don't understand how quickly this has happened. Before when I sat on it I was on my toes as Annabella rides, but now my feet are flat, it's dropped that much. Problem is it's more comfortable now, but unrideable!

I've measured the sag at 45-50mm. Less than I thought, but is it OK to ride it like this?

Hi

Just had another thought. It could be that the suspension linkage has seized up. Happens if they are not stripped down and greased occasionally. However it would need to be seriously seized to cause this problem.
