hey everyone, i was just wondering how much oil your bikes use, i have a dna 125 (4 stroke engine) and i havent needed to put any oil in since iv had it, its a late 2001 model aswell (thought old-er bikes used more oil than say a 2003/2004) and also iv heard people on here go on about how much oil they use on a 4 stroke, although i guess they have had a problem with the bike so it would use up alot more oil than usual, i last checked my oil stick about 2 weeks ago and then again yesterday and it doesnt seem to have moved at all, i cover about 100 miles a month on it though so could this be why? (at the moment i only use it for college which is about 30 - 40 miles a week) even so i would have thought it would have needed atleast some oil in the last 4 months.

I've never had to top up my 4 stroke GN125 with oil, nether my GPZ500S.

4 Strokes shouldn't burn any oil atall - but you do need to change it regularly to make the bike last longer. I aim to do mine every 1k miles (meaning I do it between 1.1k - 1.4k), with a filter change every other oil change.

4t engines will burn and losse a little oil with age as things wear, and leaks appear.

keep a small bottle of oil handy to top up. My worst offender was my FJ12 which was a little heavy on oil. Yamahas seem heavy on oil in general ive found. Best was my GT550 which used none at all.
