bike humming

iv just noticed when i was stripping down my bike that when i swich my bike on after about 5secs i get a very little humm come from something.

should this be?

servo in the exhaust, for the powervalve?

The servo is underneath the air box and operates the exhaust valve by pulling on 2 cables. If it's making a continuos humming noise then that means that it isn't moving freely and you should check that the servo can rotate from side to side (with the ignition switched off). It will be quite difficult to turn but it will turn. You can get to it without taking anything apart, you should be able to see it on the right hand side of the bike, mounted in a plastic board.
