How did the rear tyre look after that? Right onto the edges or what?

If it was to the edge, how about the front?

Just wondering as I have the same bike, and wondering if my strip-less rear tyre is enough to KD. Laughing

I think it is possible to knee down with 5mm of rear chicken strip when the pegs touch down then your starting to run out of front chicken strip and well and truly out of rear chicken strip

You dont need to be rite at the edge to KD mate.
Just take your time learning to KD mate dont push to much and fall off, take it slow.

As for my tyres I have no chicken strips back or front, and after afew passes like that tyres look like I've done a trackday! Rolling Eyes

Just practice loads Sam. You will need to lean off more than you may think.

Once you can do it you'll be scraping the peg all the time. Just watch out for sudden changes in road conditions though as the bike will move around alot. Thumbs Up

I have a favourite roundabout already, know it fairly well now.

My toe was in the same position as Slickfish's second picture, and felt it grind once. The noise was alarming to say the least!

I have managed to get my toe down, going around and around an empty roundabout. Dont think ill ever get my knee down on my bike though, cant go fast enough.

Crapped myself when it first scrapped, as i wobbled alot.

The day after i found out that it was rather differcult to replace toe sliders. oops.

amazing to see peoples riding styles, the less agile people tend to just stick their knee out and lean the bike hard, getting the knee down, whilst the longer legged, gangly people just move across the seat, hang their knee out, tilt and touchdown.

There are some quality pics there lads!!!

Sammyboy - The reason my foot is angled like that is to get the toe down as well as the knee, in a attempt to get more sparks, for some reason the WIZ sparkie sliders, dont always spark to well.

If you look at the second pic there's two sparks! Shocked

I don't have any great pictures of my self, but as a photographer I have a few faves that I have taken:

https://www.swaffs.co.uk/images/BrandsReport010505/thumbs/IMG_8235.jpg https://www.swaffs.co.uk/images/Cadwell310505/report_pics/Thumbs/IMG_0898.jpg https://www.swaffs.co.uk/images/BrandsReport010505/thumbs/IMG_9226.jpg

yes that guy does have one arm !

I could probably go on all day as I love bike motorsport pics but these are some I had available.

Shaun's left knee is looking at me in that first post!

Nick.H you could get your knee down, I can do it nearly stationary, at mini roundabouts and the such.

And I go for the hang off like a gangly chimp aswell.

Sammy, you have a CBR6 too right? If you look at sickfishes pictures you can see how close his pegs and toes are to touching down. I havent got my knee down on my CBR6 (because some bitch smashed it up before I learned how to do it!!) but Ive got a hornet on hire for now. Its got low pegs, just like the cbr has and Ive only got little short legs so I have to hang and scrape a peg at the moment to get down. If you are good and tall though you should be able to do it no probs, especially once you get better technique!!

On another note, I have no chicken strips on my CBR6 but never got my knee down. Weird.

Villers is spot on, my peg has been down one and my toe sliders mullered, It just feels wrong to hang of any more than that.
I've seen some people scratching and tha bike hardly leant over.
Just learn slowly and learn the style your comfortable with, you'll take everyones advice and come out with your own style!!!

There was a program about a 1 armed motorcycle racer on men and motors, i think it was on scratching 2?

was quite impressive, he could ride as well as many other riders, exept his starts werent good because he had to accelerate and let go of the clutch with one hand Confused
