My SV650 has a little problem, so its time to tap into the hive mind, or even better one of the clever ones, to work out a solution.

The SV has a small round plastic clutch cover which bolts onto the right hand crankcase cover, I assume the idea being that you can change the clutch without having the whole cover off and in the event of a crash you break a little plastic cover instead of a big metal one.

There is no gasket between the plastic cover and the metal one, just an O ring.

My one weeps oil. I've replaced the O ring, I've tried two different types of sealant, I've tried the right torque settings, a little tight, a little loose, always comes back to the same problem. As soon as the oil gets good and warm and I give it some welly to get some pressure going in the oil, the oil starts to leak out and burn on my exhaust pipes.

I don't like oil leaks.

So my idea is to get the whole side cover off, degrease it all, and glue the cover on with epoxy resin and bolt it on. Then If I have to do the clutch I'll just take the whole off.

Before I do anything this drastic thought, I'd like to know if someone has a better idea or if its a common problem with a common fix.

could just be the surfaces are drity. make sure both the surfaces are clean of any instant gasket crap you have tryed. as its a "O" ring smear some engine oil around the ring and fix the cover back on.

if that does,nt work try and get some yamabond (three bond) or blue hycomer which is pretty good case selant.

or you could try making a gasket out of a ceral box to go between the "O" ring and the crankcase.
