opinions? ^^ What do you think it would be like? I mean it sounds all fun-ya get to ride a bike everyday, how much better can you get? What kind of training would be needed just to instruct at CBT standard?

I don't think it's the sort of riding I would enjoy.

I'd probably get bored too quickly and snap at them.

Therefore, probably not the best job for me.

Yeh, I would definately get fed up doing that, riding at learners pace etc. The only highlight would be when a learner drops their new bike!

i mean i heard that you cannot get a decent wage unless you are the head instructor? Can anyone clarify this?
I dont think that you would be short of work as the motorbike lot near where i am are always out.

I think it would be quite satisfying, helping someone take their baby steps, watching them mastering all the hard bits and then sending them on their way.

Quite fancy it apart from the cash, or lack thereof.

All the instructors I know do it on a voluntary basis.

They have to have a full, big bike licence, and take training from the centre about how to work headsets, how you teach certain stuff, etc...then they in turn train people on CBT's, and lessons every week.

I think there is little money in it..if any.

There's not much money in it at all, you have to ride the same (usually boring) roads all the time, you have to ride in all weathers regardless and you have to put up with riding with people who have no experience on extremely slow bikes, day in day out. And you have to do the pedboi's CBTs.

On the plus side there's a good community aspect to it (around here at least) and on a nice day you'll be out on your bike instead of stuck in an office wishing the air-conditioning worked.

Personally I wouldn't do it.

My dad is a motorcycle instructor but only part time as the money is so bad. He seems to get a real buzz out of teaching people to ride and takes pride in teaching them to do so safely. It also means that he gets to spend his time with people who love biking. I think the training is pretty hard as I know of people who have failed it a number of times.

One real problem is the responsibility you have...

"Don't ride into that group of daytriping oap's!"

They go straight for the old peoples outing, make a spectacular mess and your responsible...

Being a police rider would be great, bloody hard work but still... if it werent for the need to be a copper copper i'd think serously about it..

Best job would be bike journalist, or maybe motorcycle travel writeing... or bike tour guide, that would be rather cool...
