I do the biker nod when I am walking along and see people I know in the street. I must look like such a tw*t. I also fin that I shoulder check when crossing the street, which I suppose isn't such a bad thing.

Hehe yeah I shoulder check on the street sometimes. I almost nod to bikers when I'm in the van. It doesn't matter if I'm not on a bike, I still feel like a biker. Thumbs Up

Everyone should be taught to ride a bike and to do the over the shoulder 'lifesaver' check.
Maybe then i wouldn't get so mad in supermarkets when gormless twats steer their trolley into me as i try to get past.
Maybe then i wouldn't also get a nervously twitching rectum everytime i filter through traffic.
Mad

it's because you are checking their bike over

they know you are a biker so you get a nod from them

i always get one when i'm wearing a british superbike championship t-shirt when i'm sat in my girlfriends car.

edit:- all car drivers are taught to do a shoulder check after using the mirror before changing lanes e.t.c.

I nodded at a guy on a pushbike a few days ago. I think cos he had a cycle helmet thing on.

He only went and nodded back.

I nod at police bikes every time, and sometimes normal cops Shocked

Its completely involuntary

I still find myself noding at bikers. And when I go out on my bike, I find my self flashing my lights at mini drivers! Embarassed (for those who dont know, i drive a Mini and Mini drivers do the noddy thing, but flash their lights instead)

The other week while in my car coming back from work I saw a bike filtering, coming towards me. I was the only one on my side who moved over, biker waved at me as he approached and before I'd realised what I'd done, I'd given him the nod Laughing

When filtering in traffic I always nod a person who pulls over and lets me through. I usually make sure they see the nod - by checking in their mirrors they saw me. If there is any doubt then as I go past I give another nod. If a big artic moves, or a large lorry then I give a wave or thumbs up.

You probably get a lot of nods as you are 'biker aware' and make space for bikes to filter through. I know I do and get lots of nods, thumbs up and leg waves.
