Anyone on here ever used one before?

They seem to be going quite cheaply on ebay

Is it cheap because its shit?

Me and a friend both use the Naddy system thats sold at Hein Gerick. Its ok up to 40-50mph but after that the VOX seems to stay on and doesn't really work too well. There are some decent kits out there but you'll be hard pushed to get them for less then £150 Sad

I've got one.

it's shit

anything over 0 mph is pure wind noise, and the foam mic covers fall off.

Lidl were selling them for a fiver, so I'm not complaining

(same product comes under many different brands)

got an Autocom. night and day.

hit 140 on the M11, and could still here the tunes clear as a bell.

depends what you want.

I wanted a system that could be bike, OR battery powered, worked for pillion and/or bike-bike, and would allow music/phone etc to be piped thru the lid.

I went for the Pro-rider kit at £210, and added a pillion headset to it.

Haven't got the biker-powered kit for it yet, nor the phone specific wiring (might just get the bluetooth option of it's compatible)

You'll get about 4 hrs out a 9v battery, playing tunes into two lids, and also allowing speech.

Speech only is days at a time. (we found this out while touring france)

For that, Im geting the bike power kit (also means the unit hides under the seat or somesuch, and doesnt take up pocket/bum-bag space.

the adjustable voice activation is fantastic, and there's a removeable jack (which can be replaced with a handlebar mounted switch) to switch the speech volume for riding with and without earplugs.

the pro-rider handles stero music, rather than mono, and has a "side-tone" so you can hear yourself, making it easier to know if your pillion has heard what you said.

the other lesser two, have bits and pieces of the pro-rider but not all.

not fiddly at all.

3 wires (with jacks on the end)

one each for rider and [pillion, 3rd is for additional gadgets (radio for bike-bike/phone etc). "unit" has two sockets, one for music (which has it's volume cut when you talk) and an aux line in (which volume's not cut)

if you can, try and get her a lid with a removeable lining. makes fitting the speakers and mic SOOOO much easier than trying to prise open a glued shut lid lining Very Happy
