Ok, there's loads of infighting amongst the brands as always and I saw this as a link of the 1000RR site but thought it interesting enough to post.

This is the third K5 I've heard of with a snapped frame now. I know this one was involved in a smash but it's fairly severe.

I don't believe the speed quoted on that thread. 20mph?? Shocked Rolling Eyes

Look at the state of the rest of it, not just the frame!

I wouldn't worry (at present) about buying a K5 thou' .. the frames that have broken so far have all been involved in front-end collisions that did more than just snap the frames.

It's just a bit of internet-driven scaremongering really Thumbs Down

Agreed Thumbs Up
I've had a go on a K5, and its just stupidly light. Still to have the frame do that Shocked Think i can see a recall on the list of things to do at Suzuki.

I don't think that it is really, the link to this site was on the 1000RR site, not written by a Honda owner. The bloke that wrote it was obviously a mate of the K5 owner, I can't see what he'd have to gain by slating it for the sake of it.

I've cart wheeled a 954 Blade down the road, travelling a lot quicker than they are stating, after being taken out by a car and it came out consideringly better off than that.

I agree with Wave, the lighter the bike, the bigger the damage.

What would he have to gain? Maybe they're going to try and make some litigious claim against the other rider/the manufacturer/whoever so are telling a few fibs about the speed etc ... this is the States we're talking about Wink

I'm inclined to agree with Mr. Fruit'n'nut, the bike was involved in a collision ffs, if both bikes were going at 20mph then that is a huge energy exchange.
Granted the Harley came off better, but they are made of steel and designed to tow ploughs. It's not like the gixer just fell to bits riding along the road.

Also... Jeff has quite obviously eaten more than his allocated quota of pies, and therefore probably weakened his frame prior to the accident.
