I'm fed up of twats who can't look in their mirrors when they are filtering!!
I'm not moaning about cars, i don't expect THEM to look in their mirrors, i'm talking about other bikes!
Twice this week i have been stuck behind other bikes who are filtering at a very slow pace, but don't have the courtesy to check their mirrors every now and then.
I filter at what I consider to be the safest allowable speed according to conditions. If other riders want to go quicker, i move over and let them pass.
I'm guessing the people who do this fall into 1 of 3 categories:
1) The safety Nazi; 'you should not be going any faster than me, i am doing THE safe speed, you must do as i do.'
2) The deluded twat; 'I am the fastest thing on 2 wheels, nobody can pass me.'
3) The Myopic Twat; 'I only look in the mirrors to check my own reflection.'
Fucking wankers. ____________________ Space Monkey #7

I only check my mirrors when filtering occasionally: I'm more interested in checking the cars ahead for pulling out suddenly and looking for junctions for emerging traffic. ____________________ https://www.bikepics.com/members/fuzzbcf/

I always let faster bikes go past me when filtering, except if they're a scooter ____________________ Using a mobile phone while driving a car should be made a capital offence! |

Bikes holding you up seems to be a lot rarer than cars doing the same IMO. I've yet to have a problem. Even had a guy 2-up on a moped let me in front of him at lights, so that he could explain to his pillion what the clutch and gears were on my bike. Found it quite amusing to be his display model
I pulled over to the side of my lane yesterday to let a bike past. Thought it was weird that I hadn't really heard it, but had seen it in my mirrors quite a way back, and it got to the point where he was right up behind me. Sometimes I'd see him, sometimes not. To be honest, I'd rather have a car tailgate me than a bike, 'cause at least I don't lose the car in my mirrors. So I drift over to the the left, and the mighty RS125 comes buzzing past. I love the looks, just not so much the sound......
The "rider" looked like he was practically asleep, completely horizontal over the tank to get the old aerodynamics right.... Nothing covering his arms at all (not going to judge, but, y'know). He's wearing a sock over his left trainer, I figured to stop it getting scratched but have never seen this before. Is this some sort of cool statement with "da yoof"? Nice to know that if he comes off, his shoe should stay shiny.
His torso is covered with a somewhat camp, green bodywarmer. As he's so horizontal on the tank, one thing he hadn't taken into account was that his bodywarmer thing had a hood...... The thing had filled up like a baloon, and was merrily waving away above his head as he slowly crept past me at about 45mph to my 43ish..... I laughed so much, and for quite a long way too.
Went past him when it opened up onto a dual carriageway. Was still laughing, and did say thanks to the guy for cheering me up so much. Actually looked like he was surprised that my CBR6 managed to get past him, when he was "going for it". Bet he hadn't counted on his parachute hood negating his perfect streamlining though...... |

I often filter through traffic faster than I really should . So sometimes it's good to get stuck behind someone else. ____________________ When riding fast, think fast. When riding slow.. speed up.
