Best choice to make

Hi

New to the forum but have been reading up here and the knowledge is strong amongst many here

Basically here's my dilema! I'm 23, been driving for 4 years held a licence for 5 years and want to move onto something a little more suicidal Laughing

so I am confused..really confused.. over what type of licence I should now go for and what bike to get.. I'm budgeting around the £2k- 2200 mark... ideas plz.. also need something that is fast, looks good reliable and good on insurance... (maybe i'm asking for too much!?)

I had my first go at an indian moped (100 odd cc) whilst I was 15... got chased by dogs withing the first 5 mins of learning to ride and went over a speed breaker while my cousin was the pillion... ouch hurt like hell

looks nice! but would an nsr 125 be a good choice too or is that just good for teens?

NSR's are good bikes, they're more reliable than other sports two strokes but I think with your age and criteria you'd be looking for something a bit bigger than a 125? Smile

That would be ideal. Main thing is that I need to include all costs in a budget of around 2200 ^^ the suzuki looks good but even when I was getting insurance quotes on a silly 50cc p-reg aprillia moped some companies wanted £700 odd.... I thought if thats what they want for a small 2 stroke I hate to imagine what a proper bike would be like!

If you took your full test and got a bike like the SV650 I would say it would be cheaper, insurance groups tend to be higher on scooters/small bikes as the general trend is that the young tend to crash more often than full riders on large machines.

Agreed, and the SV650 is a fantastic first big bike, they're designed for new/experienced riders alike. Plus they have great long term appeal, unlike the NSR, which you may want to trade in sooner for a larger bike when you feel confident to do so.

SVs have a fantastic rnage of customisable features as well, plus they run in the Mini-Twins race series, so performance parts should be easy to come by.

Have a go on one, see what you think.

I only paid around £450 TPFT for my SV650S, ungaraged, 0NCB with H&R. All other quotes were in the region of £650-£800.
