do you indicate while doing a u turn during test???

also when doing the E-stop do you move over to the curb then brake or just point it curb ways and brake/drift to a stop next to the curb?

You dont indicate when your doing a u-turn and for the emergancy stop, you perform the stop do a full check behind you and pull over to the curb.

After Emergency stop looked over both shoulder etc then i indicated to the left then knocked it off!

i also had my right indicator on whilst doing the u-turn and turned it off when i stopped at the curb on the other side!

but i was told if you dont put your indicator on it doesent matter if they are really petty they may give you 1 minor but its worth it if by using them puts you off in any way!


and i passed with 2 minors that had nothing to do with indicators.

id say if it doesnt interfere with your riding ability, Use them!

You do your u-turn when theres no cars coming so its pretty much useless to anyone. Try not to make too much work for yourself

doesnt matter! what if someone does come! are you gonna stop and start again! no.
what if someone comes to cross the road whilst your doing it etc!

it's obviously better to do it!

it's like saying no need to indicate if there is no-one behind you, you do it anyway! to let anybody and everybody know what you are doing.

I don't ride yet but i'd think that anything that helps yourself and others is worth doing. It's just polite and doesn't make you pick up any bad habits .. just my opinion

I was told you shouldn't because you should be doing it in a situation that no one could come.

The exmainer being arsey could decide you weren't so sure of yourself if you put the indicator on I suspect.

It would help if the DSA could have some kind of consensus about what you should/shouldnt do. There seems like loads of ambiguity on some issues, and yet you could fail the test of you dont do it the way the examiner wants!

A neighbour of my dads failed his test because a van came speeding onto the road where he had just started his u-turn. He had to stop, and hence, failed his test. He asked the examiner what he should have done, and was told he should have refused to do the u-turn if the place was unsuitable.

I mean, what learner is confident enough to tell the examiner he's picked a crap place for the u-turn. And i have a feeling if you did do this, the examiner would not look kindly upon you. The whole thing stinks to me.

If its my responsibility to ensure the place where i do the u-turn is safe, then let me pick it. If its the examiners responsibilty, he can pick it. But his choice, and my responsibility, just stinks.

If i fail my test because of something like this, i'm gonna be really pissed off, i cant afford to do it twice, especially just because the rules arent clear.

usually your instructor knows the examiner and knows what he is picky about and points that out the morning before the test or well mine did, he even knew what route i was going to be on!!!

whatever happens you wont fail for using or not using your indicator you may pick up a minor at the worst scenareo!
i had mine on and he didnt minor me but your right they should be clearer as to what they want!!!

My instructor got on quite well with my examiner, he warned me that he'd lost his son in a motorcycle accident (turns out the son forgot didn't do a lifesaver), and the examiner was "shit hot" on lifesavers.
