OK folks got stopped not more than 10 minutes ago so bear with me - I am still absolutely buzzing.

Was at ASDA Govan buying a dvd, which is maybe 10 minutes from my house down the M8. Left ASDA, turned right onto Helen Street then right again onto the motorway.

What I failed to notice was the 2 pan europeans sitting 2 cars behind.

Down the on ramp redlining it, clear motorway ahead, *nothing behind* so pushed it up to 135ish eventually caught up with some traffic just before my offramp. Chilled it down to a ton then engine braked down the on ramp to around 50 before enterining a 30 (industrial estate). Blue flashing lights.

I'm going to jail for this.

"Why did we stop you?" Pleasant cop

"I suppose I was going rather brisk coming off the motorway" Thinking that I had passed them just before I exited the M8.

"You were doing 112mph on the on ramp" pointing to a reading on his dash.

I am fucked.

"I usually build up a bit of speed getting on to motorways so it gives me options, I'm sorry officer I know I was speeding and its against the rules, I deserve what I get" Humbly..

"By the time we were on the motorway we couldnt see you - we were doing 130" (mental note: adjust speedo) "We only caught you because you slowed down"

Ok by this point I am sure I am not getting to ride my bike home, there is no way this is getting any worse - I am spending a night in the cells for DD and will never be able to afford a bike or car again.

Then they start looking at the bike.

Fact A: I am 19.
Fact B: Passed test in May.
Fact C: Bike has one working headlight.
Fact D: Bike has hideousley loud illegal race can.
Fact E: Bike is a 600cc Suzuki GSX-R
Fact F: Bike has 2 illegal tires (only just)
Fact G: Tax disc doesn't belong to the bike (a new one to me)
Fact H: They have a measurement of me doing 112mph, a video of me disappearing with them doing 130.

Not so pleasant cop B - the quiet document checker - is obsessed with my tax disc which appears glued to the older, in the end none of us managed to get it off. It appears the registration bit has been folded over and stuck down. We agreed to deal with it at the station.

Race can wasn't mentioned.

Pleasant cop pointed out my tires were illegal, the front one technically illegal but hard to spot but the back one definately illegal but still "rideable" in his words.

Asked what I was doing out at that time I explained I nipped out to the shops to by a game, unzip leather jacket, show game. They giggle which catches me off a bit.

"Nows the time to be honest, honesty is key here - Do you have a license"

"Yup" handed them my Provisional explaining I lost my test pass certificate and was having trouble getting a replacment.

"Insurance? Now be honest.."

"Yup, in the house could show you it in 5 minutes"

"Tax? Tell me now if its honestly taxed"

"To the best of my knowledge it was taxed, Ill take it apart and check it out as soon as I get home."

While his colleague was checking out all the details on the radio the other chap had a quick word with me. He explained how he was a biker, knew exactly what I was doing having a blast down the motorway between traffic and slowed down when it got busy. However I should have spotted the 2 white pans sitting behind me before I launched off at the lights.

Everything checked out.

"Consider this a severe kick up the arse" explained the officer, handing me what I assumed was a ticket.

This is a producer for your insurance, tax, license and MOT. If I was a traffic car you would be in court with no license. Theres a time and place for that sort of speed, that wasn't it. While walking away "And get your bloody tires changed."

Its my birthday in 50 minutes but hell im sure it came about half an hour ago.

Or the condensed version.

Stopped after doing 140mph by to bike coppers.
Let off with a producer.

I still can't figure out how I managed it.

Not intentionally no, the bottom part of the disc is folded and because it is at the underside of the bike it is very muddy. None of the 3 of use could get the bugger off to actually check it, The fact its glued on has me worried though.

They did say that once I get it off and check its valid to be sure to bring a valid one to the station. Hint hint.

You're a jammy sod! Laughing

Nice to see the cops being flexible, though we could debate long and hard about how flexible they should be. Thumbs Up

In all honesty I should have been done.

Interesting to note though - thoughout all the debate we have had over restrictions and what not - I was literally caught way over the ton on a clearly unrestricted bike - they knew I was 19 and it wasn't even mentioned.

And I've figured out why. Should have been more careful. Its the coldplay concert on in Bellahouston park. Was there last night on the bike and the place was absolutely full of traffic and regular cops. Kicking myself for not going to ASDA Linwood.

Have you ever actually followed a Motorcycle Police officer?

I followed one the other week doing about 80-90MPH down the A34, he didn't seem that bothered that I was matching his speed, and following his lines around the bends, he even gave me a wave when I turned off on to the A50!

Bike policeman do a job they love and I reckon they understand the freedom and excellaration of riding a bike hence why the do that job and are mostly leniant on us.

Yep. I got let off by two bike cops after being caught fair and square doubling a 30 limit.

Maybe something to do with them being older, more experienced coppers? I believe you have to have served a certain amount of time as a traffic officer before you are even eligible for consideration as a bike cop.

See im pretty sure its not dodgy, I can vaguely remember checking the disc 6 months ago and ensuring all was well. We just couldn't see it because it was covered in shit and the street wasn't lit very well. It was also attached extremely well so Ill have a look at it tomorrow.

The police failed to notice/comment on the fact my bike only has one headlight.

Its not the bulb the actual headlight was smashed and front fairing when someone reversed into it when it was parked up. A pickier plod would have picked up on something.

A mate has pointed out to me when the adenaline stops pumping ill be able to tell the grandkids that in my last hours as a teenager I was caught doing 140 mph and got away. Cool

Happy Bday dodsi - the idea of being a 20 something frighten you as well?
