Insurance for ER-5... Who should I go with?

On my current policy, got quoted £1,200 TPO.

Whenever I'm looking at insurance for a new bike, I scan through all the freephone numbers in the back of MCN. May take a while, but it's worth shopping around. Find the best couple and then make them fight it out between themselves to get the deal even lower; "Broker X said they can insure me for £xxx, with £xxx excess, can you best that?"

I have just renewed with https://www.ebikeinsurance.co.uk/ no problems and cheap, and i have cover to ride other bikes. They are part of Southern Rock who have been around a bit.

Also all online so they are always open for policy changes

I have an ER-5 insured through motorcycle direct.

19, 1 yrs no claims

worth £2000 (well thats what I put)

No pysical security.

£252 TPFT

Its a 2001 C1 model.

Depends on what part of Sidcup your in. Most of the housing is nice, however if you life near Foot's Cray expect more expensive insurance. You should be able to get it down to about £700-800 tpft. Keep phoning around. Also what is the age of the bike? If it is less than 2 years old it will explain why you will get higher quotes.

Just tried Motorcycle Direct and they said: " The largest capacity motorcycle you can be insured on is 250cc.".

Don't do online quotes.

Do it on the phone...if you want a good idea of what price you'll have to pay...and to be able to haggle with it.

i went with KGM through directchoice i am 41 with 1 years ncb passed my test last year on a 1990 zx1000 cost me £97 fully comp and i can ride other bikes, everyone else wanted over 200 quid

They told me I wasnt aloud any more than a 250cc either.

But when I rang them they kicked all the other insurance companies arses on quotes.

Like instigator (greg-an-ory to you and me) I could have paid £500 +

£1,200 does seem rather a lot. Mind, when I was looking around to insure the ZXR one had the cheek to qoute me about £6

Cheapest I found in the end without not much looking was www.kcareinsure.co.uk. That was £430 ish with me being 24, no no claims discount yet (had only been on the RS125 since November) and with the bike being alarmed and garaged. Think they only do Kawasaki bikes so might be worth a look if you've got an ER5.

I pay £320 fully comp for my ER5 and i've just passed my test.

However I am 33 and the bike is garaged & anchored.

Its also garaged at work. (Best thing about my job).
