First time Ive ridden a bike that powerful (SZR660 = 45hp normally).
When accelearting the smooth-as-hell 4 cylinder engine and one-click gearbox kinda felt like a computer game compared to my SZR which talks to you with vibrations and pulses everytime you ask it to do something. I knew i was going faster, and I could hear it, but no vibrations? Wtf? I could kill myself by accelerating more waiting for it to shake.
Power wheelies just felt like the suspension was gently stretching! In reality it was lifting the front wheel 6 inches or so without any drama at all- I barely even realised.
I also came to understand how little power you need for modern road riding! I rode it around an industrial estate and in traffic I used about 5mm of very-gentle throttle movement in total!
Great fun for the wheelies and nice to finally experience a >100hp bike, also nice to have a break from the thumper. I certainly think I was right to buy a "small" bike as my first bike though, that kind of power takes a lot to learn and handle and IMHO there are other things you need to learn first.
Cant wait to try a 600 sports bike. ____________________ Yamaha SZR660 Caution to the wind, the throttle pinned! |
