Get down to the shops mate, and try some on.

Something which fits me, wont fit you and feel the same.

The best way to find a lid is to try one on! Thumbs Up

Hi,

I am a get fan of Shoei but fit is the important bit, try them on and try different makes as, as ash says, different helments fit different people.

Shark lids seem to be of above average build quality for that sort of money, have a look at the s600/s500 to see if they fit.

Loads of padding is usually a sign of a cheap lid. Shoei, Arai and now AGV are all changing their shell sizes for different head sizes. Most other manufacturers just vary the thickness of the padding so the smallest people, with the smallest heads, get the heaviest lids.

As far as which lid you should get, the answer is the one that fits you best and you can afford Very Happy

Cheers

and thats the main thing, maybe go for a plainer helmet for better price fit,

the fit is most important above the look

Hi

Get the one that fits your head best. The difference in the strength of the helmets between the best and the worst is highly unlikely to be of any relevance (you neck would probably go before it became relevant).

It is very difficult to know which lids are well finished. Charlotte had a Nolan that was really badly made, the Nolan I had was fine. Loads of people have commented in the past about haw badly finished Shark helmets are, but Maurice seems to be impressed with them.

But the best helmet in the world is useless if it does not fit properly.

All the best

Keith

I tried on a Nitro helmet 2day for the 2nd time, Was a different one ina different place, Down from £150 to £100. Felt v.nice tbh.

Does anytone have one of these and are they any good? Is the Double D Strap hard to get used to? are the visors strong? Will they pop out on me or not when im riding like my old one?

I don't know about anybody else, and I certainly don't mean any offence by this, but THIS IS YOUR HEAD WE ARE TALKING ABOUT!!

Spend as much as you can afford!

I have never worn a lid worth less than 200 quid, even when i was learning.

All Helmet are tested to same impact esting and standards, your neck will snap before a helmet fails.

Your paying for lighter materials, more expensive materials, removeable padding etc when it comes to higher priced lids.

For all you know every lid you have bought may not have fitted you correctly, so the £200 would be a waste.

I wear AGV, as they fit my head well.

Don't get me wrong, every lid i buy has been fitted correctly, and fit is definatly the most important factor, but it my experience the cheaper lids do noy tend to fit as well as the more expensive ones, either because they are a different sized shell for the size on the label or because the padding is better.

The best way of getting a well fitting lid is to ask for assistance in the shops. Most shops are very good at telling you how the lid should feel and you can tell them where the pressure points are, or if the lid just feels 'wrong'

Say what you will, I still wouldn't trust a 50 quid lid.

Well my lids usually cost less than that but I usually by a shoei. I picked my new one up from the BMF for £100 which is a hefty discount.

I try to look for the ACU gold stamp as well as the BS stamp. I think some the more expensive ones are the latest color scheme or wing on the back etc and not necessarily an safety related change.
