Rather than start a new topic, I thought I'd jump in on this one.
Is it me, or is the scoring system for hazard perception a load of ballocks? It isn't so much a test of perception but a test of whether you can find their magical scoring window. So many of the hazards were so obvious I have the feeling I pre-empted the window time after time. I did not miss a single hazard, and most of them were painfully obvious even from a quarter mile away. I clicked on them all when it was inevitable they were about to become a hazard, when they became a hazard, when I needed to do something about it, when the vehicle actually did something about it, and then when the hazard had buggered off.
e.g. 1. going down a deserted country road, and you see some sheep at the side of the road. Click. The sheep make to move into the road. Click. The sheep walk into the road. Click. They stop in front of you. Click. They go away again. Click.
e.g. 2. You're going along a deserted dual carriageway, and you're coming up to a layby. You see a white truck moving at the end of it. Click. You proceed a little closer and the truck is about to pull out. Click. The truck pulls out. Click. The truck keeps coming. Click.
e.g. 3. You notice a cyclist going along a path and see that the path runs straight onto the road. Click. The cyclist appears to be about to go straight off the end of the path into the road, they certainly could not stop. Click. The cyclist looks right. Click. The cyclist goes onto the road. Click. It goes around the corner and gets back onto the pavement once it restarts. Click.
e.g. 4. You're going along an NSL, and see a truck stopping at a junction ahead of you. Click. You get closer and the trucks wheels start to move. Click. The truck pulls out. Click.
And so on and so forth.
I needed 44. I got 45, and I didn't miss a single hazard, and clicked pretty much exactly how they asked. It was getting to be quite fun, and was really very easy given that you know what to look for and that you know somethings about to happen.
Or so I thought. It's a load of ballocks and doesn't test whether you can see hazards properly until they're blindingly obvious. Maybe I'm too cautious? Maybe my single year road experience has taught me how to spot hazards too well?
It isn't a coincidence that the customer satisfaction survey is done before you get your results...
34/35 and 45/75. The single one I got wrong on the multiple choice was whether I had to give way to a bus. I'm afraid I treated it like I would were I riding at a decent pace rather than crawling in traffic.
Still, I passed, and it's behind me. I'd be happier if I knew the hazard perception wasn't any use for people who can see hazards before the window, and then miss the high scoring part having already just clicked. ____________________ I must not be a troll...

It said on the accompanying piece of paper. It had a breakdown of how many of which scores I'd got on the perception, and also the multiple choice mark. There was also a load of other blurb I didn't really bother reading, telling me to take both parts of my licence to the theory test or something. ____________________ I must not be a troll...
