I was after getting a VFR800 but after i got insurance on one and one on a GSXR600 i was quite shocked. The VFR was £780 extra and the GSXR was only £300 extra!! Shocked

Well i'm picking up a GSXR600K1 in mint condition within the next few days, monday at the latest. So i just got thinkin'.. will i look stupid with textiles on such a bike? Laughing

Not at all dude!!!

I see PLENTY of sports bike riders with textiles on, infact, more than full leathered riders. Most just use textiles over their leathers.

Good to see your upgrading, you'll have to rip out all that bloody camera stuff though!! When and where you buying it from?

Wear what you want - 90% of people out there probably have different tastes to you anyway and will think you look stupid whatver.

More to the point, where what's appropriate to the way you're riding; a decent thrash deserves decent fitting leathers really, while a textile jacket isn't so bad for a trip to do the shopping.

Okay, I'm not co-ordinated, but I don't think I look stupid.

My brother has actually bought Frank Thimas textiles with all the body armour in to match his crb600 and i think they look pretty good. Much better than some leathers/bike combos you see out and about where the owner blatently bought them to go with a previous bike!

A previous owner of my leathers might have made them to go with a previous bike he owned - definitely doesn't go with any of mine now (actually might match the TRX Confused) - but they have saved my skin sliding down the road quite a few times now Smile.

I really don't like it when the leathers match the bike. Far too tarty for my personal taste. Smile

Always worn the same on all my bikes-black heavy leather jacket and a heavy pair of jeans.

Make sure your protective gear is comfy so it isnt a chore wearing it or you wont bother.

well i'll probably invest in some good leathers at some point but just now i'll have to stick with my textile jacket and trousers, they both have armour in them and i wont be riding like a bat out of hell anyway!.. they're also dark coloured and the jacket has some dark blue on it, my lid is also white/blue so all in all it shouldny look too bad, what am i on about! Confused

I should be picking it up on or before Monday, don't quite know yet but i'll let you know as soon as i get it.. apparently it hasn't even got the slightest scratch on it so hopefully it's as good as it sounds!

Im looking into armoured draggin jean thingies.

As i am on my bike all the time for work and pleasure i dont like walking around in a leather gimp suit. Just kidding, but full leathers arent really suitable for domestic riding, sturdy textiles are where its at in that respect.

well textiles it is then! i think i seen a pic of those armoured jeans but i don't think it's something i'd wear, i'd rather just wear jeans underneath my armoured trousers (only takes 30 seconds to whip them on and off) for that extra layer of protection.

Anyway i should be picking the bike up tonight if all goes well so i'll soon find out what i look like, not that i'm too bothered, just that most people i see on sportsbikes are leathered up so i just wont look as hardcore Laughing

If you haven't paid for the bike yet, I know of a GSXR600 that will be a steal for whoever buys it. Mate of mine with more money than sense is selling his because he never rides it. 2002 (IIRC) in blue and yellow, 4500 miles (told you he never rides it) mint, Akrapovic can (plus original), digi gear indicator. I reckon that waving 3500
under his nose would have it, maybe even less as he hasn't had a sniff yet.

Cheers

I've got a sportsbike and wear one of those Alpinestar Dyno textile jackets. Look exactly the same as the leather version, but I find it less contricting than leather, and alot more comfortable when off the bike as well. Seems to be cooler in the summer, but the removable liner allows me to wear it in spring/autumn as well.

Don't think it looks out of place at all.

Nice one, just thought I'd check, I'm not doing the whole spam thing, just trying to save a fellow BCFer a few quid.

Cheers

If they're in front of you, they don't care what you're wearing.

If they're behind you, you don't care what they think.

My mate got some, they seem ok, but they get very warm as you basically have a large blanket wrapped round your arse...he's not come off yet so I can't tell you how good/bad they are in those circumstances, and I sincerely hope he doesn't come off TBH.

Alex.
