Hi there

Ok,

My cg 125's rear break interfears with the centre stand.

As the rear break is pressed, the center stand moves.

I took it all apart and the design is awful, or whoever put my bike together missed a part.

The brake leaver mounts onto a pin that is actually the end of the centre stand mount.

Just checking if anybody else has had this problem and how they sorted it.

Thanks
Jamie

One of your parts may be aftermarket or bent in a crash/drop, if any bits could be removed and hammered back into shape thats what i'd do Razz

It may be that your brake needs adjusting badly (too much travel, the brake should go on right away, not after takeing up 2/3cm of play in the pedal)

Certainly didn't do it on my 97 cg and dosen't on the 78 model ive got either...

Hi there,

It does have to much travel.

problem is that the little arm on the drum brake is on a little and then needs alot more travel to get full lock.

Funny old bike.

Put new shoes in etc.

Its just for the bike test I need it and I dont want it to look suspicous.

Iv'e mastered holding the throttle between my thumb and first finger while using the brake with the rest of my fingers, so i could get by with just the front.
But for the test he will watch me on the hill start etc and I would be expected to use the rear brake.

Cheers
Jamie

Its quite common for the actuateing arm join bit to be put on wrong after being taken appart (not saying you have, previous owners and all that) the pin with the cam on that come out of the brake has a pinch clampsort of thing... where you adjust the brake.. if that makes any sense...

Thats all assumeing the arm isn't too long or anything weird like that...

Tis worth a try.. (i'll post a pic if that makes no sense)

If the examiner suspects theres ANYTHING wrong with the bike he will cancel the test straight away... best to sort it really, you need all the brakeing you can get on these! Shocked

How old is the bike?

I know on my 1990 CG the centre stand used to move when the rear brake was pressed. This was due to the 2 holes that the bolt holding the centre stand on with fits through been worn. This meant that there was sideways play when the brake was pressed causing the centre stand to move.

Sold the bike before I fixed the problem.

thats the problem,

those holes are worm and thats what lets the stand move.

but im confused as to how they got worn, thats why i chalked it up to me missing something.

They wear because you rest the weight of the bike on the stand and take it off, then on then off then on......

Had exactlly that on my CB-1, you could weld a washer over the holes so there back to normal size.

Or you could angle grind the whole unit it off like I did.
