Anyone seen the first and second practice sessions? So far the top six riders are all those that have raced there before (either in World Superbikes or AMA Superbikes) since the Moto GP hasn't been there for 11 years. Hayden is fastest having broken the lap record already and it might be the best chance he has of actually winning a race!

Rossi's situation is interesting with him currently sitting in 10th. I'm a big Rossi fan, but he needs to lose a couple of races to make the championship more interesting and (hopefully) stop him leaving the sport at the end of next year. He'll probably do his usual trick and put in the fastest lap with three minutes of qualifying left to go! Laughing

1. Nicky Hayden 1:24.228.
2. Troy Bayliss 1:24.451.
3. Max Biaggi 1:24.542.
4. Alex Barros 1:24.564.
5. John Hopkins 1:24.679.
6. Colin Edwards 1:24.679.
7. Sete Gibernau 1:24.802.
8. Marco Melandri 1:24.938.
9. Carlos Checa 1:25.042.
10. Valentino Rossi 1:25.098.
11. Shinya Nakano 1:25.309.
12. Kenny Roberts 1:25.352.
13. Makoto Tamada 1:25.457.
14. Toni Elias 1:25.574.
15. Alex Hofmann 1:25.882.
16. Loris Capirossi 1:26.150.
17. Ruben Xaus 1:26.441.
18. Roberto Rolfo 1:27.060.
19. James Ellison 1:27.904
20. Shane Byrne 1:28.117.
21. Franco Battaini 1:30.282.

Didn't realise it was this weekend. Shocked Looking forward to seeing the bikes being flung around the corkscrew. Twisted Evil Thumbs Up

Should be an excellent race imo, and I'd very much like to see Rossi beat as well, ideally no points. I think he does tend to just work on race setups until about 15 minutes (or much less) is left of qualifying though, so free practice times are pretty deceptive imo.

How does the track look, tonnes of run off everywhere now?

Did anyone see Marco Melandri's first crash i think just after the corkscrew. Was it really as bad as they were making it out to be. Cant wait till the race. Hayden is looking strong.

What do you think of Rossi and Edward's new paint scheme celebrating the 50th Yamaha anniversary. Quite Cool

He wasn't hurt (he got straight back up again). He basically lost the front end on a fast bend - he slid forever! I think his bike was pretty trashed though.

If Hayden doesn't win this, he'll kick himself (I think his team might kick him too). He was so much faster than everyone else. He set the fastest lap and then while people were trying to catch that he went out and beat his own times three or four times.

I think they look absolutely gorgeous. Drooling

Just a shame the 125/250's arent there. "Oh no, we dont have enough space for those bikes, we need to run the AMA super bikes, super sport and super stock at the same event." Typical, have to get it their own way! Should be all or nothing, not a mix and match of what they want.

Still, should be an interesting race, roll on this evening. Thumbs Up
