Can you bore out a Hyosung comet 125cc to 250cc. I beleive its the same lump as in the 250 version. Has anyone on here done this had this done? Whats involved and what kind of costs you looking at? Any info would be great.

You could probably buy a Comet 250 for less than it would cost you to bore out a 125 to that degree, if it would at all. Not to mention the different carburettor(s), pistons, crankshaft, gearbox, chain, sprockets, heads and valves.. Oh, and without a full licence it'd be highly illegal to ride and difficult to insure.

It'd be far far cheaper and easier just to pass the test and buy the 250, if that's what floats your boat. Very Happy

I'm under the impression that yes, it is the same engine as the 250, but sleeved down. You could get it bored out but it's not a popular bike and you'll most likely get charged more for some company doing it. Although I could be mistaken, it might just be the frame and wheels that are the same.

It's worth just passing your test. I know we say that a lot but it's not a popular bike, and that does nothing for it's resale value, but if you bore the thing out, you'd kill any real selling prospect.

Sign up to this very useful forum. Although it is for the 250cc comet, they help out with 125 owners too. Most are foreign though, but I guess thats a good thing - they have more parts in the far east. Smile

I've heard a dodgy story about a local getting either a 250 lump dropped into this 125 or had it bored out. Mind you, that's 125ccs over the max allowed on the island, so it wasn't long before he was pulled over after a brief chase and the coppers were wondering why he was doing 90 mph on a flat with a 125 4t Very Happy.
