Would be nice to go back to the days where there was a vague sense of logic to punishing 'crimes'.

Unfortunately, it's very easy for them to trace you. All they need to do is contact the bikechatforums administrator, ask for your ip address and dns name (which contains your internet service provider's name). Bikechatforums would legally have to supply this information. Then get your contact details off your internet service provider. Unless you had always gone to an internet cafe, you're fooked.

I achieved *** mph on my own private road/on my works private land/whilst visiting relatives in Germany.

seems that the punishment wasn't for the speeding though, it was for lying and saying that his missus was driving which is a fairly dumb ass thing to do.

If your gf rarely drove, maybe didn't even have a car on the road then wouldn't it be preferable to have the points on her license? Makes sense really, although yes I realise it's 'cheating'. I just thought that the suggestion that they were lucky not to go to jail for something which is frankly very minor was ridiculous.

Or would it be?
They could track your IP number.. route it through to your ISP and get yours details. If hackers/crackers/phreakers and script kiddies do it for fun then i am sure a professional would be able to do it in a matter of minutes, if needed.

Your wrong.
It is a legal obligation that this information is logged, and if requested by the authorities such as the police, there is a legal obligation to hand it over.
He would hand over the information requested or he faces going to jail for with holding information and/or attempting to pervert the course of justice.

Although I think the information would be made to the web hosting company and the information would be handed over by the web company, not the site owner or administrator.

Although if Korn was asked for the information, the onus would be on him to get the information from the web hosts and act as middle man between them and the police and hand over the requested data.

Refusal to comply will usually result in a court appearance and then jail or a big fine.

Perverting the course of justice? They got their money didn't they? Not investigating this and prosecuting both simply on a bit of hearsay albeit from the "offender" (speeding motorist, rather than offender, since there's nothing offensive about being "expedient") is a perversion in itself.

As for the electronic tags? would someone explain what possible purpose these can serve? Since when did a speeding motorist constitute a violent/antisocial danger to the community at large?

Traffic law gets more and more draconian, and anyone who successfully flaunts it is not, in my eyes, a criminal, simply someone who has exorcised his right to travel in his own vehicle without being stopped so he can give the police a few quid to keep them in coffee and paperwork.

I wonder which police officer surfed pepipoo in his lunchtime while he was bored of nicking motorists for trying to get to work on time? Rolling Eyes

It offers free legal advice from its members to the public on matters of speeding tickets and the like.

What I find very telling is the Scammer partnerships feel they have to monitor web sites offering advice to the public. Web sites that are fighting back against the system that often illegally fines drivers from driving in a safe manner. Partnerships and courts that spit in the face of human rights legislation forcing drivers to admit guilt before seeing any evidence against them.

I think the righting is on the wall for speed cameras but due the money involved it’s going to be a dirty fight and the partnerships don’t want us the public to know the truth so they try and target the best resources the average person has to fight against the system with crap like this.

I presume they didn't convict solely on the basis of his post on the 'net though, more likely they used it as a lead to follow up and the subsequent investigation provided the evidence. I do wonder what they mean by the site being 'monitored' though, as this could mean anything from a regular daily check which they try to cross reference with current cases through to an off duty copper having a quick skim through the forum and finding something of interest.
