Figured I'd ask this question over here as its quite a quick & simple one.

Lately I've been on the hunt for another RS125, mainly as a toy to get on track with, but now I've found I can get an RGV250 for very similar money and have even more fun with it..

Basically, I'm 6 foot 4 and tend to struggle on some sports bikes, like all tall people in society. I can fit perfectly on an RS125 but any taller and I wouldnt be able to ride it, comfortably that is. Now I'm looking at a few RGV's for sale and would like to know if any of you taller people out there are able to sit on one without too many problems. I'd go sit on one myself, but I dont know anyone locally who owns such a thing.

Obviously this will vary from person to person, but I'd just like to know whether tall people are able to get their legs positioned properly within the tank groove things.

Tar for any info any of you can provide. Smile

RGV's are very big bikes, just a tad bigger than my RG I think. If thats the case, I'm about 6ft, and the RG is quite a size. Very big for 125. So I would guess that you may JUST fit on the RGV nicely. Better off finding one and sitting on it. or try sitting on an RG125Fun. That'll give you a good idea. From what I have seen in person, the RGV's are quite a size, maybe just a tad smaller than a ZXR400.

Hi Keith,

I'm 6' 4" and the wrong side of 15 stone and I can fit on an RGV perfectly... Recently i've test rode a new R1 and new Blade, and the RGV is more comfortable than both! (although not as quick Wink ) The RGV screen is high enough to get tucked under (without removing any ribs!), and the tank grooves are just the right size for my legs... I think I have a similar problem to you in that my legs don't fit into the tanks of the new super sports (R1 especially!) as my knee's sit where the tank splays at the top... but with the RGV I have no problems....

If you want a definate idea of size, I can get a picture later tonight with me sat on the bike for reference....

In fact i'm selling mine Here!

The bikes are wonderfully light and pretty rapid even with my huge frame on! On one run out I managed to stay ahead of a friend on a Ninja 636... he could catch me on the straights, but round the bends he was left trailing!

I had plans to turn the Pepsi into a track bike, and for that reason I got hold of a fibreglass top fairing and screen (without headlight cutout) to replace the current one as the screen is a little brown and glazed and the top fairing has been pop-riveted.

Unfortunately, my main bike (CBR600) failed its MOT and I've decided to throw all my spare cash into trading it for a new Aprilia RSV Factory... so the little track project has to go...

I've put it up for £1k as this is what it currently stands me at, but am willing to take sensible offers...

Andy

Thank you for the reassuring replies. Thumbs Up

I was hoping there was another tall person who just so happened to be riding an RGV from this forum. Laughing

I looked at your advert the other day and it does look like a cracking little bike, but Blackpool is quite a distance from sunny Teesside..

Thanks for the help anyway, its best that I sit on one first, just to make sure, but at least I have an idea that I should just be able to fit just about right. Thumbs Up

I was quite spooked when I saw the question! Not very often the little bikes are mentioned.. let alone with someone as tall as me!

You have much faith in the old stroker..

I didnt say it was too far, just said it was quite a distance. I'd have to view first and its a long way to go if the bike isnt as expected. Razz

Also, whats with the dent "that made a previous owners eyes water?" Shocked

I've got total faith in her.. She starts, stops and corners like a dream..
As honest description of the bike as I can...

As with all old 2 strokes, they live a very hard life... She rattles like a bag of spanners on tick over.. but once off an running runs like a dream!

The top fairing has seen better days cracks and splits all held with aluminium strips & pop-rivits.. The screen is beyond repair.. But i've sourced a fibreglass race fairing with new screen which has no headlight hole but thats easily rectified..

There are some scuffs on the lower panels and seat unit, but they are complete and solid... and the scuffs are mainly confined to the transfer areas, so a new set of transfers and she'll be looking good to go...

The previous owner has tried to polish the end cans with what i can only assume was a brillo pad and scratched them to buggery! but the Pepsi's should have matt black cans... which can be solved with a spray of BBQ paint! The cans and expansion chambers are totally solid...

Lol... its a see it to believe it job! I dont know how it was done, as the frame & forks are spot on.. and the bike gives no sign of being in any sort of accident...

The tank has a couple of dents.. the biggest i've tried to get a picture of.. but dosnt show up very well.. If your a well endowed chap, it gives you somewhere to rest your tackle Wink I was looking at the Carbon Tank Pad thats sold on ebay, and believe this would cover the dent completely.. Also on the tank is a paint chip on the top right hand side with a small dent... The key cover flap on the fuel filler cap's spring has disappeared.. and needs either a new spring or a replacement filler cap...

For the last MOT it had Head bearings and new fork seals.. the chrome on the forks is suprisingly good, with no pits or marks in the sliding area..

The frame and swing arm are totally free from dents and scratches but in need of a tube of autosol and a polishing mop...

The rear tire has about 1000 miles left in it.. the front is still good for a while yet... Cant remember off the top of my head what tires are on.. can check if needed...

The bike is a Jap import, but has had a UK spec headlight fitted. But the clocks are still in kph. As the bike is an '88 model, it was released before the SAPC models, and as such isnt restricted. Its got the huge Elephant Ear Mirrors and Jap indicators..

As I said in the for sale post, I really dont want to sell her... but needs must.. and would prefer she went to a good home where someone is going to look after her as I wanted to.... I bought her with the intention of putting a bit of time back into her and making her my track day toy...

If you want some more detailed photo's then let me know.

Laughing Thats one unpleasant dent right there!

If it hasnt been crashed, I'm guessing something large has fallen on the bike? It certainly does seem decent for what I require (track bike) but again, its just the distance. Sure it'll make the journey, but I cant be chewed with a good 2 hour drive if I'm just going to walk away (like I did the weekend before last when viewing an RS - seller failed to notice bent forks/frame! Doh! )

Thinking
