TZR125RR Power Valve Snapped

I went to work this morning, got off my bike and been baking in an office for 8 hours really looking forward to blasting around country lanes on the way home. Finally, 14:59 approachs and I log off the PC, and go to my bike.

I go to start it, and it doesn't start. I try again, it doesn't start. I keep trying and then it fires up and cuts out again, so I presumed I flooded it.

I went back down to my office, to message Chris-B. I asked him to bring a plug and gave him directions but after he left, I realised that the power valve string had snapped.

Chris-B got here, and we tried stuff like pulling the lead out to keep it open yet it still wouldn't start, so I'm completely clue-less. It's sitting in my managers garage at the moment, and hopefully someone with a bit of power valve knowledge will come and have a look some time this week.
