hiya lads, im not new to the forum but i dont have bike yet so,
to any of you who live in london, there's a gang of lads going around different area's of london, and when you stop at lights 1 lad pulls in front then they surround you and take your keys etc. a couple of lads i know got their scooters nicked and i hate scruffy cunts who nick other people's stuff, so if any of you come across these lads, give em a kicking from all of us, currently they've only stole scooter's that we know of but they might move on to bike soon, so wtch out lads!

Copied this from Maidenhead Scooter site. It from a newspaper in Kingston on Thames.

POLICE are investigating a spate of scooter robberies, in which riders have been surrounded and forced off their bikes.

There were three such incidents across south west London last week including one in which a 17-year old mechanic was threatened with a ball hammer.

In this incident the victim was targeted on June 23 at 4.45pm as he rode along Fulham Palace Road towards Putney Bridge. He saw another scooter heading towards him, which did a U-turn and began to follow him. They pulled up beside him and while both mopeds were moving, the pillion passenger attempted to make conversation, then told him to get off his moped but he refused and kept riding.

As he drove along Richmond Road the other bike caught up with him and the pillion rider threatened him with a ball hammer which he produced from his top.

When they got into Queen's Ride the passenger twice leaned over and tried to grab his keys, but failed.

The victim managed to pull onto the driveway at 4 Queen's Ride and ran up to the house, but there was no one in.

The driver of the other bike approached him and threatened him with the hammer, demanding his helmet and scooter. He did as they said and was left stranded as they rode away towards Putney Bridge.

There were two similar incidents near Hospital Bridge Road last week. On June 20 at 4.30pm an 18 year old was surrounded by three other mopeds and was told to get off his scooter as he sat at traffic lights on the A316. He felt threatened and drove away from the group, travelling the wrong way around a major roundabout.

They caught up with him and again surrounded him until he got off and they escaped with his bike.

A friend of his also had his moped stolen by the same group shortly afterwards. The youths were all aged about 17 and white, one was wearing a silver Simpsons helmet.

Two days later at 10.50am, police were called to the junction with Percy Road following reports of men on scooters fighting. A 25 year old male, on a blue and white Yamaha was set upon by two men on scooters as he waited at traffic lights. They pushed him from his bike, the two men fighting with him for his keys.

The victim's friend stepped in to help but one of the males managed to get hold of the keys and they ran off towards the A316.

Jeez. Shocked

Has been happening for a while, remember an article on it in RiDE magazine a while back where they done the same to an R1 rider. Used diferent tactics though.

However...good way of making you think what you'd do in the situation. In the young mechanics situation, it would probably have been best jsut to have kicked the other scooter into a parked car. Then run (twist) like the wind.

Im only 19 but I think translators should be avaialble for people to help these kids. Are they from the UK?

If someone does it to you dont sit there like a knob, take one of them out. Simple really, just launch yourself at them. Unless your unconcious or have both your legs broken you can still fight.

Time to keep a hammer tucked between your legs or in a handy position on the bike!

Dunno if it's any use, but how I have my keys may help someone. Because my bike vibrates, I have my keys on a ring that is attached to a clip-on thingy that is attached to my handelbars. So you can take my keys out of the ignition but you can't get them away from the bike.

Some sort of Comic Relief style fundraiser may help. Cue Bono:

"And remember, just £2.50 of your money will buy Chardonay and her friends a copy of Spot Goes to the Park to teach them basic English skills. Please help her, your money will allow her to be understood by the outside world. To help, please visit www.chav-aid.com and give as much as you can."

Well they can't do much damage to your head with a hammer maybe, but broken fingers, broken toes or a hammer in the bollocks would all render you unable to ride for some time..... Confused

Not really the same thing but I saw something quite shocking driving through Bristol city centre on a Friday night.....

A pizza delivery dude was riding a moped in front of us when a group of mini half pint hoody hood rat gangsta types you git me blud!!! Ran up to the scooter and started smacking him upside the head for fuck all reason!!

Just as I went to jump out the car and beat dem biaaatches down, they all ran off down an alley way.

Should of taken a picture and sent it into chavscum.com!

If some kiddy was riding alongside me trying to tell me to "get off your fucking bike" I'd hoof the fucker right off the road, u-turn, park my bike up and proceed to make the twat eat kerb.

That sounds like an awesome idea.

If I was on a ped and someone tried it on I'd wouldn't stop swinging. Bastards. That's another reason to wear kevlar gloves. Wink

If the dick pulls in front of you to block you, lauch the front wheel at his head. Just open throttle full, pull on bars till front end lofts and let go. Once he is knocked over, jump on the bastard and break his ribs.
Carry a can of mace or simular in your pocket, that should help too.
Open that lock knife you have on your keyring, the one you use for camping, and see if they still want the keys.
If they want your helmet, give it to them, in the teeth, swinging helmets make good weapons.
Remember, your alowed to use reasonable force to protect yourself, if theres a few of them, thats a lot of force you can use Laughing
