I've decided that I need to improve my cornering, so I've been trying to do all the different bits that everyone says you need to such as looking into the bend, shifting weight, taking the right line etc. I'm not fussed about getting my knee down, I just want to be able to get round bends quickly and smoothly. Now, I already do countersteer round bends, and on sharper bends I make a definate conscious effort to do this. But what I was wondering was if it is possible to over countersteer? In a left hand bend the other day I was countersteering with more pressure than I usually do, but how much pressure should I be using? Is it possible to turn the bars too much, or will something prevent this?

Another thing I've been noticing lately is that everything feels much smoother and safer if I make sure my head is level and looking through the corner. i.e. while your leant right over, your head is still straight up and down. It helps me at any rate, I can lean right over without 'fearing' the ground doing that.

Am I missing something? When your going over 30/40 the only thing you can do to change direction is counter steer...... or am I missing something?

It's whether you do it consciously or not.

What I described isn't directly to do with changing direction, more feeling about making me feel better while doing it and hence happier to lean further faster. I think it's probably because if you're head's at a slant you tend to look at the ground more. That and if my head is still level, I feel like I'm hardly leant over. Laughing

It could just be me, but it's worth a go. Thumbs Up
