I have a couple of questions, with regards to this thread. (Click)

The bike was picked up last Wednesday by the insurance people. I understand that they will now assess the damage and get back to my brother. If they write it off, what will they do with the bike? Is there any way of having the bike back at all? I'm thinking about nabbing some bits off it for my NSR before I sell it.

Question

Most companies will let you buy the bike back off them. Make sure you let them know asap or they will get rid of it.

Normally they'll let you by the salvage off them, I believe it's only if it falls into the highest catagory (scrap only) that they won't allow that to happen.

I'd definitely get onto it quick though, just incase they have it collected.

Hi

It is his bike, and they do not own it until they have effectively bought it off him with part of the payment for the claim.

However, make certain he states early on that he wants to keep the salvage, just to stop them picking it up and carting it off to the other end of the country.

All the best

Keith

Depends what category they write it off as how much it will cost you.
Mine was written off as a category C which meant they wanted about 35% of the write off value. Sad
