WANTED: Honda CB500

Looking for a Cleanish Honda CB500 (not bothered if its faired or not).

Colour: Black,
Price Range £1,400-1,800,

Recently passed my test so if it's restricted to 33bhp and got the certificates would be fantastic!

In all honesty ER-5's are better bikes that can be obtained slightly cheaper.

No Im not trying to flog you mine, I have sold it now.

But I looked at a lot of 500 twins when i wanted one (wanted any of them) and the ER-5's were the best.

But if you want a faster one try the GPZ500, they are superb.

Lovely powerband at 7K RPM and they are very comfortable to ride.

Only thing that put me off about the ER-5 was the corrosion and how small it was, I like the build quality of Hondas and the engine looks a little cooler. It also "feels" (i dont know for sure) a lot bigger than the ER-5 and I thought the clocks looked a lot better (although similar :-p)

I've had a look around some GPZ's but they're just too small and I've read they take a lot of maintainance, parts tend to wear out a lot faster.

I've really set my heart on the CB500, my main requirements are:

As little maintenance and corrosion as possible (i dont mind oil changes)

2-Up Touring

Fast/Powerful acceleration for when i need to let off steam

Long Motorway driving (~120 miles a day)

Decent looking.

Wheelying? :-p

The ER-5 is a better bike.

The reason mine had engine cover corrosion was because a previous owner probably didnt look after it as well as I did.

The GS500 drop to bits quickly the ER-5's I would go as far as to say are better built than the CB500's

If you spend £1500 on an ER-5 you will get a very nice one.

The ER-5 and CB are the same hp (or near enough)

similer weight, the ER-5 is easily big enough for 2 people. and 2's up touring.

honestly, I was going to go with a CB untill I realised ER-5's are better bikes and cheaper!

with you being quite local to this, it might interest you for a project! If you go and have a look at his yard, he has a few half decent bikes, and some have only scratches and scuffs!

£1400, really nice condition, 1994 (L) reg, 33bhp restricted, black, sounds excellent!! Getting it saturday, can't wait!!
